Badly is the usual answer
Bough/Cough
Cow/Bow
I live in Reading but if I am reading a book I pronounce it differently

And if a boat of rowers have a row over which way to row!

And Romanising Hindi words is a nightmare all of its own!

The fact that English works in any form as communication is amazing!
I had a Latin teacher in high school who was a polyglot from Europe. One of my fellow classmates made the mistake of saying "Gee, this Latin sure is hard to learn."

That set the teacher off on a bit of a rant. "You think Latin is hard to learn? Let me give you some examples of what I had to learn when learning English."

He wrote these words on the board as he pronounced them:

"House, Houses"
"Horse, Horses."
"Mouse, Mice ???"

RNM,

I understand about auto-correlation. For what use do you have in mind? Or, maybe I should ask, it can be used in some cases to find best fit, but what would one be fitting?

If pondering how a modulator could attenuate reverb tails, the modulator is not a computer program. For the DACs in question it is a DSP algorithm that involves a chain of multiple integrators with multiple feedback paths. It runs on its own and we can't observe its node values or tap into it for analysis.

T, to know modern hi fi design, you should attend the Munich Hi Fi show in early May. This is considered the best show of its kind in the world, and unfortunately I had to turn down an offer to go, just today, because it conflicts with a necessary automobile driving test that I have to take in May. Yet, of all the hi fi shows in the world, it is the one that I would most want to attend. Perhaps next year.
T, unfortunately, you never followed up with me about YBA, Paris. This is the closest real hi end manufacturer and designer that I know close to you. Do they have a bad reputation or something?
Tweaks and mods actually first came from France in L'audiophile back in the mid 1970's. There was a guy, who also has connections with Japan who wrote the first article on wires and he made a serious impression. I met him once in Japan, and even I bought a phono stage from him more than 40 years ago. He is known here, on this website but I can't remember his exact name, perhaps someone here can prompt me. I think his first name is Jean. Tweaks and mods are apparently serious in Munich, because I am told they have a whole floor for just tweaks and mods. Of course there is much more. Some of my stuff will probably be there in a small way, but there will be plenty to see and hear. I really wish I could attend this year.
T, don't let these people discourage you, that is what they intend to do, you know. You have had enough real experience to know the real from the fake. These people don't, so they condemn everything. My companies are AMR, Parasound, Audible Illusions, and Constellation in case you attend.

The Naxos download page with this cult jazz reference phonogram didn't work for me so I was supplied this link:

Dropbox - Domnerus Jazz at the Pawnshop.flac.zip

While it is a classic "high end" recording, the musical performance is only so so, not very inspiring. It simply doesn't swing. Like with so many "audiophile" jazz recordings. One of the few exceptions I know of is the Charlie Byrd 1978 direct-to-disc recording for Crystal Clear Records (made with JC-designed electronics, iirc).

Sorry you didn't like it. I might have owned that record you mention. It's gone since I have had a number of break-ins and thefts from my cellar storage. Almost all my records was stolen :( But I would not play them anyways as I can't stand vinyl since long. I find it inferior to digital on some crucial points. But it would be nice to hear the music - it's not on Tidal I suppose...

Back on the Deoxit front. I have a small container of this that is 20 odd years old as well as a can of generic contact cleaner. I treat when I replug something and have never heard any change but the piece of mind helps. I am a great believer in ritual affecting the human mind and for about $2 a year no harm done.

My bottle is so old they only did one product for the general public then. Appears they have 30 now! I'll get confused like I do with loktite (which is also red).
