Scott, I don't think I ever noticed this, but I'm the same way. I do enjoy an enjoyable beverage while listening to music, but rarely find myself eating anything. Huh...

(And yes, canned public music is almost always terrible.)

P.S. I wonder if the noise is just too distracting? I mean, maybe a peanut butter & banana sammich would work, but a bag of Doritos is right out.

Do you like to listen to music while you eat Charles? I like music (obviously) but I always turn it off while I'm eating, one reason I don't go to restaurants or pubs for meals is the piped music. I don't mind watching TV or talking.

I'm pretty much the same but quiet instrumentals I don't particularly care about are ok...ish.
Mainly my point is that the environment like colour of lighting, music etc have a proven and quite significant influence on the flavour experienced.
