Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Been using ver 4 recently - is there anyway to change how the UI looks when using it on a small device like a phone? Web (computer screen) UI is nice - but I miss the simple interface on a small screen.

All I see is the "BIG" image (waste IMHO) and tiny controls with a slider. No vol or jog wheel, etc. And the slider is WAAAAAY too easy to hit accidentally.

Works - but not optimal. Am I missing a setting or????

What device and browser are you using? You should be seeing a single column UI on a phone screen.

On a side note, moOde web UI is a progressive web app. If you choose "Add to Home screen" from Google Chrome and launch from the home screen icon, it will remove the normal browser controls and look more like a native app.

motorola x1053 phone that I use a "remote" for my standalone moode player

It's a single col - big image at the top and then transport (buttons) and a vol slider, then play list. To me, the image is not needed, and I liked the "round" jog type vol and song position of 3.8 (the position slider below the image on a phone with 4. is basically unusable).

On a phone I would FAR rather have the larger controls

Hi,

The old mobile UI is gone forever and most users want to see the cover art, however @swizzle and I are looking at replacing the volume slider with an easy to use popup volume knob for 4.1.

I'll post screenshots when the code is finished :)

Thanks ~ It's *really* easy to accidentally hit that slider where it is. And the position slider is **really** tiny.

I'm surprised people want the artwork - but then I don't get running it from a large monitor (it's audio...)
If I have my computer on - I can just as easy play or stream from IT to my DAC or whatever....

:)

Hi Tim,

As it works in the larger laptop/PC web interface it's not a deal breaker, it is just handy some times to be able to jump to a particular/favourite spot in a longer (classical) track/recording, or when doing the 'audiophile listening thing', which my wife hates anyway, without getting out the laptop. Keep it low on the TODO list.

Regards, Simon

Hi Simon,

It's possible but low priority on the TODO list.

What the usage scenario for this?
I actually did this but you’d frozen 4.1 so it was going to 4.2. The position thumb is bigger, the hit target is much bigger.

The portrait mobile view is pretty typical of other mobile music players, if that’s not what you’re looking for then you can always rotate your device and get the standard landscape view. That should be more usable in 4.2 on small screen devices.

Speaker icon -or- last button on right, below the volume control

Hello all,

Quick question: below the volume control on the Playback tab are five toggle switches or buttons. The four leftmost are intuitive, have pop-up labels, and actually do something. The 5th, looks like a speaker icon, can be pressed, toggles colour, but has no pop-up text, and does not seem to do anything - what is it supposed to do and why isn't mine doing anyything?

I'm running a Pi3B with a HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro.

Regards, and thanks in advance!

I would presume it is a mute switch but as I always run with the 'volume disabled" setting it does not (and should not) work for me either.

Have you set volume for SW/HW/or Disabled ?

Yes, I run with volume control disabled.

I tested by resetting to Hardware and then to Software volume control and you are correct, it is a mute button in both those cases. It makes sense that the buttton would have no effect where volume control is disabled.

(Low priority requests) That being said, and the mystery having been resolved, I would suggest
1. there could be pop-up text saying "mute", for consistentcy of the interface (which is remarkably good at informing the user along the way); and

2. the icon could have the speaker circled and with a slash through it, to better telegraph it's function.
Thanks!

I have a problem with tidal. After entering the recommended playlist, the message "service login or communic"

@Rucia1

Your posted message was truncated so I had to do a little detective work;)

I have exercised the Tidal service in moOde in the past and it worked fine. Haven't used it recently so just now tried it in moOde Release 4.0 2018-01-26. et voilà, I repro'ed your problem.

Scenario:

1. set up UPnP in moOde and add my Tidal credentials.

2. Set up BubbleUPnP in my Android phone to use "Moode UPNP" as the renderer and "MoodeUPNP-mediaserver" as the library, i.e., the (proxy) media server.

3. Drill down to Featured Playlists and then select any album. BubbleUPnP displays "Service login or communications failure". This message is issued by a bit of code buried in the upmpdcli package which Tim imports into moOde.

4. It seems I can access and play tracks using some of the BubbleUPnP/Tidal navigation paths (via Recommended Albums, for example) and not others.

5. It seems I can consistently access and play Tidal tracks using BubbleUPnP as the (proxy) media server (e.g., selecting "Local and Cloud/Tidal" for the library). It's a bit confusing because the navigation paths seem different but they all work.

I suspect this is a recent problem with the underlying upmpdcli package and not moOde itself but I'm not a steady user of upmpdcli and Internet-streaming music services. Perhaps a moOde user who is can chime in on specific failure modes Tim can pass along to the author of upmpdcli.

Hey guys
I tried to install moode last night with Dietpi, but the install failed. For some reason, it complained about the ethernet interface.

Wondering if anybody has installed moode on Dietpi recently?
Installed per this page, diet pi install
Nov 15th, post by Fourdee.

I didn't make any changes to the dietpi.txt file. I could enable wifi, but since ethernet is connected that should work.

this solution is not convenient with the bubble server on your phone.
The phone must be constantly running and the battery is quickly falling

Hi. I am using tidal with moode and bubblePnP. But I am controlling the tidal part with an app called LUMIN. It works flawlessly in 4.0 [emoji106]
Where are you choosing the songs and playlists within moode?

Best regards
