Funniest snake oil theories

The psychology of the inflated price of a lot of these oily things is slightly interesting.......no it's not really.....most of the wealthy people I've met have been very boring......like beautiful people, they're boring too.......is it the shiny well oiled appearance that makes them seem interesting and hence desirable and expensive...what happened to all the cheap oil? One more gem from the New Tweak --- Its Fantastic | Audiogon Discussion Forum

"Good Grief! micro-arcing. Whatever will they invent next. Swollen contacts from excessive use causing micro-cracking? Apply liberally Grand Papa’s specially formulated Hi-Fi Hemorrhoid cream. I hear it makes a fantastic difference. Nothing worse than constricted contacts choking the sound."

The "paste" eventually cures into a kind of polymer plastic and it seems that the sound improves with each listening session. So, its important that you leave your contacts alone for the duration. If you’re the type of person that continually switches wires in and out, you’ll have to re paste until enough time has elapsed to get "the cure."
I have no doubt that application of this paste suspension will change the fine properties of connections.
I do have concern however about the soy oil base emulsifying over time.
In pots, faders and rotary encoders emulsifying/drying of lubricants can be responsible for crackly pots and rotary encoders that don't.

I'm satisfied with hospital grade power plugs, and firm connections for my interconnects.
I now wish to use a speaker grill on my Onken main bodies. Perhaps I will make some graphene aerogel grills, to trap negative dust particles, - a previously unknown but ubiquitous cause of distortion.
That's a GIF of Skywalker brushing dust off his holoshoulder, but it won't upload as such.

Hold some casu marzu in one hand balut in the other ...
...The effects that I have described and have not yet described are solid in the subjective domains, repeatable and preferred.
...The observations that I have described don't compute with most of those here and that does not worry me in the slightest.
Yes, many people find carsu marzu and balut as solid subjectively good, that is why they are not cheap and continually in demand. The fact that their preference don't compute for most here wouldn't raise the slightest worry from afficionados.
The objections cause me to feel pity for those with minds so indoctrinated or senses blunted, this is true in many fields of endeavor and not just audio....
Very true, afficionados may feel pity for those with minds so indoctrinated or senses blunted preventing them to enjoy the highly praised delicacies.
So who invented these monstrosities and convinced the world that they are desirable....they must be laughing in their graves.
Yes Dan, very funny yet sad. You have just reminded me that all of us are similarly somewhat deficient.

Back on laugh time. Over on another forum someone was worrying about mixing silver cables in his new tonearm with the copper in the rest of the system. One response was lovely
Hi, I have a little experience with your question owning a wire/connector/cable/turntable company and having built hundreds of cables.
The short answer is "no problem" - somtimes cats & dogs can live together- some people (& some components) like the sound of silver which is a little more forward, or tipped up on the high end.
I just installed a Micro Seiki MS-505 silver in place of the copper wired one that came with the DDX-1000 table that arrived Sat. The silver was brighter, or in my system which has some copper/gold AntiCable wire, revealed more micro dynamics.
Yup 'anticable'. See the full drivel here Cryo Treated Audio Parts|DIY Audio|DIY Cables|Custom Cables

I should note that they don't charge silly money, even for things that had a higher list price before they were dunked in LN2. Although cryto treating a cartridge, with its rubber parts is not something I would recommend.
