No longer in production.

It had excellent objective behavior for what it was, but was over-damped - and subjectively didn't match-up with it's excellent objective results (..so it didn't sell well).

I thought that no one bought it because it was 3" midrange that costs 260 euro for pair. Measurements look superb though.

Hard to beat the Scan Speak 10F/4424G, 4" Midrange, for flat frequency response and low distortion.

That would be 3" midrange. 4" is more like Sd=50cm˄2 not 36cm˄2

They did make a wider basket to be able to call it a 4".

Out of curiosity, why is that "advertisement" unacceptable but others are?

Rule 11: Posting overtly commercial information or advertising in non-commercial forums. (Note 4)

Note 4: The regular forums are non-commercial and should have no advertisements or overtly commercial threads or posts. These belong in the appropriate Commercial Sector forums. Commercial entities may have threads and post in the regular forums discussing theory and initial product design. If a project gets close to commercial availability, the topic must be continued in a Commercial Sector thread.

I don’t know but i expect a preference. Everyone i have asked has managed it.

I purchased the "Ad Free" version from Tapatalk last March, to satisfy a similar directive.

The mobile version may have a setting to disable advertisements, but I'm ignorant of how that's done.

I'm willing but all searches point to disabling Tapatalk ads at an administrative level.

In the mobile settings for Tapatalk, there's no way to toggle this to off.

FYI - as a mobile user, I don't see the offending advertisements - which are NOT inserted by us while posting.

I think Tapatalk just inserts its own adverts. Not the fault of the mobile poster. But I always use a desktop PC for serious work.

Little midranges in 3 ways have great dispersion and doubtless many other benefits, but run into serious power handling issues when crossed low and driven hard. Which makes for distortion.

Here's a stunningly good idea. Double them up and wire them in series. The laws of physics then run each midrange at a 1/4 of the power for the same equivalent level. So less distortion.

Two great classic speakers below. See, two tiny midranges. It also helps keep impedance up. Win-win!

Thanks.

So, if I understand correctly, the "Sent from my...." breaches the rules but this (community sites t-linespeakers.org, frugal-horn.com, frugal-phile.com ........ commercial site planet10-HiFi p10-hifi forum here at diyA) doesn't?

It is a Tapatalk advert. Commercial affiliations are encouraged in member’s signatures to keep members away.

t-linespeakers.org, frugal-horn.com, frugal-phile.com are all community sites. planet10-hifi.com is my commercail site.

Commercail forums and Vendors bazaar are where comercial stuff is sectioned off.

Actually that's not a bad price for that level of performance..

For enthusiasts it's not a bad deal.. now some of the Accuton stuff is pushing pricing extremes, particularly the vapor deposited diamond drivers.

Accuton is oriented to extreme high end market and something that you can not find everywhere. They invest a lot into research and it pays of for them. Their Cell drivers are just crazy - regarding price and performance. The point is that they don't have a fair competitor. While most high end speaker manufacturers make drivers for themselves (YG speakers, Raidho, Magico), Accuton makes high end drivers available for everyone. So if one wants to make high end speakers, he doesn't have to develop their own drivers. It is enough to buy Accuton Cell with OEM cones painted black (Tidal, Marten etc.).

Eton is good in making speakers but not great. Stuff that Eton offered in 3-400 can be found much cheaper in Scan Speak 10F or Tang Band W4-1337SDF that has underhung motor.

And while one could argue that Eton 3-400 does measure a tidbit better than W4-1337SDF (there is no impedance blip at 500Hz) or 10F, it is much more expensive for that kind of improvement in performance - if that's an improvement at all.

What Accuton did with their Cell concept drivers, making the acoustic centers in level with front baffle plain, as to my knowledge, can't be found anywhere. That's why i kinda understand the pricing on Accuton (although i'll probably never buy Cell drivers) and just don't get the pricing on Eton 3-400.

Anji, could you please turn off the Tapatalk advertisement?

dave :cop:

Gladly. How is that done?

As Dave has hinted, these 'inane' signatures tagged onto the end of a reply are extremely annoying and are also free advertising for the companies concerned.

I believe you can turn it off under 'Tapatalk Signature'.

All other OT and argumentative posts have been deleted.
