Worst case scenario is download gparted iso, burn to cd, boot from this with USB stick in situ, clear USB and leave with unformatted space. Not even sure you need a partition table just unallocated space. Then boot from USB and this other USB should now show as available for installation

Hello
Is there any way to permanantly delete the daphile wallpaper. Settings and toggle wallpaper stops it but it always comes back. How to I delete it for good.
Thanks

My Intel NUC mini pc does not have a cd/dvd drive so I can't try this method yet. The instructions on Daphile site seems to say that it should be possible to install on either blank usb or one with the installation iso image so I guess the problem lies some where else. all my usb ports are 3.0 version and I am using two usb 3.0 sticks, not sure if this has any impact.
Yes, it appears that connection from NUC-to-TV can be problematic, as revealed here -
Technical Blog for Jim Beveridge: Intel NUC - Can't re-enter BIOS through F2
So you must connect to a true DVI/HDMI computer monitor, before you can change the fastboot BIOS setting.
This is confirmed. The bios of Intel NUC does not work with my full HD TV but it does work with a computer screen. Intel should have fixed this because this machine has HDMI as the primary display port.
Try to burn the ISO image to one ubs drive of one brand and boot from it from the bios. Have a second usb drive of another brand where the actual OS will reside and install it in a usb slot.
Boot up first usb live image.
Hit F1 when asked. Select keyboard language. If using wifi, enter ssid and your pass code.
You will be asked from multiple choice if you want to clear a drive, select this choice and the second usb drive. Enter the code that confirms clearing the drive. Continue when done.
Let the image load into ram. You might see dots going across the screen.................. Let it finish!
If the nic adaptor gets an IP, it will be listed. Use browser to access daphile: http://ip address
At this point, daphile is running in ram; not installed yet.
Go to settings, at the bottom should be an option to install daphile to a drive. In the drop down select the second usb drive, and select set configuration. Leave the setting to msdos and bios. Start the install.
You will be asked to reboot. When rebooting remove first usb drive.
To be safe, hit the boot order sequence key or select the second usb drive as the boot device in the bios.
Forgive me if this isnt perfect as im doing this from memory.
Good luck
Vince

Hi Vince
Thanks for this. Can you explain more about the process of 'hitting F1...' Is this a special boot mode of Daphile?
cheers

If the daphile live image was burned correctly to the usb drive and booted correctly, you will see sort of a welcome screen and an option to hit F1 to configure settings.
If you were the skip the F1 setup, daphile will load into ram and possibly give you an ip of 192.168.128.1, which is a hotspot using your wifi adaptor. See manual for the password. I think its secret12345, but not sure. This usually doesnt work for me. Use a known working wifi adaptor. Thats why i posted the wifi nic i used today to setup my daphile server. I think wifi adaptor info is scarse.

Thanks, Vince. my PC is really headless so I never notice the F1 option before 🙂
Yes, must have a monitor of some kind for the setup. 🙂
I posted this on the ChromeCast Audio thread and did not receive a response. I think it is more appropriate and relevant here;
"Has anyone tried Daphile and ChromeCast Audio using the plugin?
I'm very interested in how/if it performs with multiple CCA with different playlists."

Folks:
I'm getting "Unknown Album / Unknown Artist" errors fairly frequently. Daphile recognizes the number of tracks but not the artist, album title or song titles. These aren't obscure albums, by the way. Is there anything to be done?
Regards,
Scott

I think Daphile reads the metadata associated with the file and unless you are using a plug in doesn't do lookups as such

I'm not in front of my pc at the moment but if I recall in advanced media settings there are some logitech and 3rd party plug ins dealing with library management type stuff. But I think the default is to read the metadata associated with the files when they were originally ripped. There are apps such as MusicBrainz you can use to correctly tag the files if you need

Hi, similar problem with ripping and "Unknown etc" - I will look at available plug-ins (hadn't thought of that).
OR is there a (non-manual) way to stop the rip if no metadate found?
Anyone know how to configure the ripped directory/file info to eliminate all the _'s.
(I'm not a Linux user so either a plug-in or some other method please).
I am ripping with dBpoweramp on a pc but it would be neat to let the (purpose built) server do it !! Thanks in advance.

Hi again - well I cannot see any plug-ins that will help with the Daphile CD ripping / file naming / metadata. Doesn't seem to be a part of LMS but of Daphile itself.
So help please with both the "Unknown etc" problem and configuring the directory / file name without all the _'s.
Thanks.
