Apex Goodness!

A class PSU fed with 20-0-20vac and set to +-18vdc into the Apex non-inverting LinearPre. That is feeding an Apex F100 which is powered by the Apex F100 PSU/Protection circuit. I'm feeding the F100 PSU with 44-0-44vac giving +-61vdc rails. The sound is absolutely stellar! This setup is definately going to find its way into a case in the near future. Highly recommended.

Terry,
Is it F100? The pic shows FX100.
Are they the same? Can you please link the files?

Thanks

I thought i had posted this question earlier today, but must have gotten deleted. Which PSU is suitable for tidu circuit/ your linear pre? the shunt PSU or the A class PSU in terms of audible differences. Is the A class PSU really worth pursuing because BF245 or 2SK246 are not easy to source.:headbash:

You can get 2SK246 at http://diyaudiocart.com. BF245 is out of stock at www.robomart.com you can ask them.

Bf244 is virtually the same as bf245.
There are hundreds of low gm, high Vp, Nchannel jFETs to choose from.
In most applications any, of similar Idss, will do and can be swapped in.

It's the low Vp, high gm, Pchannel jFETs that are really difficult to source.

hi Terry,
Stellar work as usual. i would like to try etching my own boards for this project as well. i found all iron transfers except for the F100 psu. would you be able to provide that? thanks again for all you do.

best regards,

freeman

thank you, sir. I also want to try the shelf liner transfer. do you use the vinyl part or the paper backing?

best,

freeman
The vinyl. Peel it off the backing and stick to your paper then print onto the vinyl. Position the board over the image, tape it in place so it won't shift. Flip it over and iron the back side of the paper for 1-2 minutes with the iron on the highest setting. Quickly douse it in cold water to set the toner. Peel it away and check for voids. You can touch up any voids with black permanent marker. You can use exactly the same process for attaching the Silk if you choose.
