Sold some amplifier modules on ebay.
Buyer complained that some emitter resistors were 3 watt and others were 5 watt. I assured him either work ok in the circuit but accepted my picture didn't show this. I said if he wasn't happy to send them back.
He refused to send them back and wanted me to buy 20 5 watt resistors to replace the 3 watt resistors.
I said I wasn't going to fund them and said that was my last word on the matter.
After a few days ebay sent a message saying he wanted to return the goods and I agreed.
A few days later I got a small parcel ( not the big box I had sent out).
I was very suspicious as it was too light for 5 circuit boards.
I opened it carefully and found in the package a 6 inch square piece of wood with nails sticking out. Had I not been careful I could have got stabbed by the nails.
Anyway the matter is now with the police.

Lol, i told you he was a problem child. Name and shame, just incase the clown ever tries to buy anything from me..
Given you have his address that seems a really daft thing for him to have done! Sadly the best you can hope for is that any negative feedback gets wiped. One would hope the police could book him for something but they probably will question him and leave it at that.

It was sent signed for and he had put his house number and postcode on the back in his hand writing.
Police say they will get in touch with his local police force and they will probably want a word with him.
I don't understand why he is so upset, I had to pay postage out and postage for the return and I am £20 out of pocket so far.
It will be interesting to see what ebay decides on the matter. I emailed them telling them about the wood instead of circuit boards being returned.
At least now I have a police contact for ebay to talk to if required.

It is imho a real shame that sellers cannot rank customers. Personally a have encountered some bad experience as a seller with e-bay customers. I learned to accept paypal only and to send not abroad.
I find with ebay around 1% of customers have a problem.
And most of them are easily helped.
I think this is only the second time in over 1100 transactions I have had something sent back.
Generally most people are very honest.
I did have someone complain about a power connector on a loudspeaker protection pcb I sent out. He reckoned it was 7 amps and should have been 16. I looked up the parts list and the RS Components stock code and found it was in fact 24 amps ! I emailed him the RS stock code and never heard from him again.
I think some people are very suspicious of items on ebay.

Not sure if that is allowed on here but I have blocked him from buying again.
Police range me today.
They are treating it as a criminal offence now.
Sending something through post with intent to cause harm is quite serious.
They will let me know how things are going as the case proceeds.

This buyer is a real low life for sure. I hope the authorities prosecute him and not settle for an apology. I see no reason why you should not post the persons eBay user name as a statement of fact. From what I can ferret out from an eBay search, is it "i***g" (247) from auction 252009587577?
It shows how things can get blown out of proportion over something as simple as an ebay item.
It makes me wonder if he is capable of sending wood with nails to hurt what else he might do.
Luckily he is around 150 miles away so hopefully no midnight visits to sort me out !

Once upon a time in an ebay far, far ago you did.
It is imho a real shame that sellers cannot rank customers.......
I am having an issue right now with a customer.
He purchased a cd player with an offer.
After the purchase he then started to question the listing.
Classic Vintage Mission PCM II CD Player, TDA1541 DAC (2) | eBay
He then made a lower offer which I rejected.
Since then, he has refused to pay !!!!!
Before EBAY can interfere, I have left feedback which makes it clear how I feel.
Come Monday, I will make a non-paying strike against him.
Andy

Can you get a restraining order against him?
Hello Nigel, sorry to hear it but it sounds like you are dealing with a real loser. I hate to prejudge but in most cases people like the fellow you are dealing with probably do this sort of thing a lot. His local authorities probably have a rap sheet on him as long as Scottie Pippen's arms. Anyway good luck with the matter, hopefully it gets resolved in your favor.
Its just sad two grown men couldn't come to an amicable solution to the problem.
Looking back now with return postage costs I might as well have just bought him the resistors he wanted. I will know next time, anotehr lesson learnt.

Unbelievable! There are some real winners out there.Sold some amplifier modules on ebay.

Mr.nigelwright7557 Sir I don,t believe that the resistors had anything to do with this..IMHO a thief is still a thief..Regards Evette
