Interesting and worrying. Personally I think a lot of the farmed fish is tasteless, but everything these days has to be quantity not quality. As to Salmon, supermarkets regularly sell of the whole salmon at reduced prices...
Agreed! farm Salmon is nasty stuff, tastes foosty to me. Far from fresh.

Every other month I buy two salmon sides at corporate wholesale rate, 1/3d to 1/4th of regular supermarket prices, and a whole lot fresher.
Same for the quality of meat, I stopped getting various steak varieties from supermarkets, they all smell and taste like cadaver. (may require the scent of a vampire to pick out stale blood) Instead, I get entire muscle pieces in 4-5lb chunks, do the cut & clean job myself.
Even after three days in the fridge, a cleaned and portioned steak still looks/feels/smells and tastes like the real deal, instead of desintegrating corpse from the super's.
Getting tasties from a genuine butcher would be easier, at a cost, but a lot of butchers are in the habbit of aging meat for an extended period.
Extendedly aged meat is also becoming popular in the supermarkets here.
My digestive plumbing is too sensitive (what not), it picks out hanged meat within six hours after inhaling, and opens all valves for a royal flushing.
Wet-aged meat, at 1.5 to 2 times the regular price tag, a culinary snake-oil delight !
Hmmm. Too bad I can't hunt Rattlesnake. The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency seeded Buffalo Mountain with thousands a few years back.
Farming salmon is nasty stuff.
It uses really nasty chemicals which are prohibited for any other form of farming and a LOT of it. Some time ago there was a very minor (unfortunately) uproar about a pesticide which is so poisonous that it is banned in the entire world except for UK fish farms. It is supposedly highly regulated and licenses were issued for only 4 tons. However the manufacturer did make and sell 50 tons meaning that UK fish farms used 12 times as much as was legal.
I'd buy wild caught frozen long before I'd touch farmed salmon.

My last job was boatyard supervisor at a real dump of a yard. Their other main business is in warehousing fish farm feed and loading barges with up to 50 tons of the stuff each day. They used to rope me in to help out with it, horrible, stinking stuff. Stray cats on the site get ill eating it, why it should be feed to us via Salmon i'll never know.
I was spoilt growing up in this part of the world, I had so much fresh wild Salmon I grew tired of eating it. I prefer wild Sea Trout, as with all fish, the fresher the better. Many people would be stunned at how good a mackerel tastes when cooked within an hour of being caught.

Un f****** believable . Glad he posted so much garbage on his own website. Read through the whole page. His own words describing his products over the years. Then watch the youtube video of the "demo" he gave. Notice how in this demo and all the others he does that he turns off the music every time when removing or turning off his wonder products. Wouldn't it be much more effective to leave the music playing while removing his products? Well that's part of the scam IMO. Something else is going on while the music has been stopped. Remember this is his demo and he is in control of the components used 😉. I'm sure zero modifications have been employed hmmmm?🙄

Maybe, maybe not. If you leave gaps in the presentation, it's harder to hear real differences (sonic memory is notoriously poor), but it does give some time for the power of suggestion to dominate over aural detection. And they are very slick at using the former.
I did some fishing in a Norwegian fjord with some Norwegian NATO friends years ago. Just a piece of rope with a dozen hooks, let it go 30 yards, bring it in, at least a few each time. Cook immediately on the deck in salted water. Never had fish that tasted so good! Of course, it could also have been the Linje Akvavit.

No doubt the sound changes ... trouble is, for me, the best sound is when all the gizmos are out of the picture! They steadily deaden the sound, make it thick and uninteresting to listen to, curious what some people think good sound is ... 😉
lol, Jan it would have been because fish spoils faster than any other meat, a few hours noticeably degrades the taste. Just ask a career fisherman.

Probably useless to point out that without industry we would all not be alive long enough to absorb the trendy little habit of blaming all of the ills on earth on those that provide the means to their longevity. Nah didn't think so. Lots of people need lots of food. What nature does is clean the slate with a plague. What industry does is sidestep nature. Some do not understand that.
Boil it down then. The greatest gift you can give your fellow man is to consume zero resources. Anyone ucan do that if they wish. Now that is commitment. If you make that commitment then you can look askance on industry, chemicals, food additives preservatives etc. Oh that's right you won't be alive to look will you? Would be pretty easy to analyse the YouTube sound, and isolate what the differences are - I've done that on a number of occasions wrt to other 'changes', and the gross variations in the waveform serve as mighty weighty "placebos" ...
Ok I live in the swamp, I walked and grabbed a couple of decent sized ones and an alligator. Whats the best way to extract the oil?
