I have not come to any conclusions about the position of the tweeters. I am going to play around with it this weekend.
On initial set up, a friend and i thought that the imaging was better with the tweeter facing in.

I would still like to continue the conversation with Salas and who ever else is interested regarding the poor measurements of string type grills. I know next to nothing in regards to the specifics but i am surprised by Salas's statement about poor measurements
I had read on anther post that the round section of the string provided for the least sonic interference. It is also hard to believe that both Sonus Faber and Krell would use these types of grills if they measured poorly. Salas, do you have any data or does anyone else have any direct experience with this

Hi,

Would like to know, how big is the enclosure?

I tried to read Zaphs webside, and converted the numbers to liters.... is it 25 liters reflex?

If so, with the 15W with large magnet, you would get a poor stepresponse with ringing.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I would recommend the K01 instead, and still, ind less liters. About 11 liters tuned at 35Hz. It will give you this stepresponse, and no ringing.

And i would recommend the Vifa XT25BG60 instead. Its new, and alot better then the old TG30, or ofcourse the R29 :)

ZD5 Finished!!!

Hi
ZD5 finished!!!!
First thanks to John for nice project, than, Jose Cañedo from Spain who make me 15W price reasonable (thanks for speakers terminals, too), Audiokit from Italy for X25 and speakers terminals, and SL Sound (general distributer of Visaton for Montenegro) for caps, MOXs, inductors and big help to finish box with veener.
Speakers was in testing and works a couple days before assembling.
Front panel made from 28mm MDF. Other side from 19mm MDF. Glued and veneered.

After two days and night working I put well known CD and this is what I mean:
Sound is very nice. In first moment bass missed but after longer listening it sounds crispy and very nice. Small and sealed box must sound like this.
I tried with subwoofer Visaton SUB W-20.39 (4ohm) with 10mH and 336uF and make 12db/oct on about 90Hz and sound was nice. This box need higher quality sub but it works.
If anyone have some suggestion about sub I apreciate it.
Duka

that's beautiful dukasound! interesting front roundover, what bit did you use? i have built several sub designs but the last one, the rythmik 12" sealed servo is by far the most detailed sub i personally have ever heard. i recommend it for 2 channel audio or HT.
