This will be the home of the group buy for the Sjöström Soft Start. The soft starter is for starting torois, 300 VA and up. It has also a relay for the mains power so the mains switch doesn't have to be big. Some switches with built-in LED can only handle 2-3 A (but they are nice looking) but they can be used here to switch any transformer. The power resistor is at 5 watts which is sufficient for 600 VA and 2 x 44000 uF (my QRO-amp) but if larger resistor is needed it's easy to connect an external one. The holes are extra large, 1.5 mm in diam. The delay time is 300 ms or 600 ms. 200-400 ms is sufficient in most cases.

The main purpose for this circuit is to limit the inrush current which the tranformer itself causes, due to low leackage inductance, not charging big electrolytic caps.
The design criteria was no IC's, only common parts. It will work at 24 V DC, 24 VAC, 110 VAC, 230 VAC at 50-60Hz, and all voltages in between. The pcb has 95 um copper with plated through holes and is doublesided.

At the moment it looks like the boards should be costing in the region of less than 50 SEK each, however, if there are enough orders this price may drop down significantly, maybe down to 30 SEK.
This is a preliminary price, including postage world wide and for ONE pcb. If you order more the shipping costs will be lower so each one of you will get an exact price depending of how many pcb's you order.
