GR-Research AV-2

A well-respected kit; it's an upgrade of sorts to the AV-1. This one has a MTM configuration (midrange - tweeter - midrange) which some people like better (fills out the midrange) and some people don't (narrower vertical range).
This totals about $330 with basic parts + MDF. Designed by Danny Ritchie, who is a very friendly guy and a frequent forum contributor (he has his own GR-Research forum on AudioCircle?, for one). The two drivers used in the AV-2 are designed by him as well, I believe, and are well-praised.
The kit includes all of the parts you'll need except the cabinet; you can buy those in various states of assembly as well. The Sonicap upgrade is recommended; the Blackhole upgrade is optional and somewhat debated (PartsExpress? damping sheets + mattress foam stuff seems to do the trick). Search the forums for more information about those.

Note, though, that once you get the Sonicap upgrade, this kit costs more than the A/V-3 kit; you might just want to look at that kit instead. By all reviews that I've seen, it sounds better. My $.02

This is available shielded to put it near a TV/monitor, so you can do a whole home theater system of AV-2's. Or make the front three AV-2's, and the surrounds AV-1's. Since they all use the same drivers, they should blend well.
