Board Specifications

Board Dimensions

90mm x 37mm x 1.6mm

Double sided

55um Copper (to be confirmed)

Mounting holes (3.5mm for M3 screw) on 84mm x 30.5mm between centres

Component Choices

D1, D2, D3, D4 - Either: TO-220, two leged devices (such as MUR1520 or MUR860)
TO-247, three leged devices (Dual diode packages, such as BYW99W-200)

C1, C2, C3, C4 - Any suitably rated capacitor with lead pitches of 0.2", 0.3" or 0.4" (approx value of 100nF would be a good starting point for experimentation)

R1, R2, R3, R4 - Any suitable value or type should suffice here (approx value of 100 Ohms would be a good point ot start at)

Heatsink is SK104 Type (idealy 9deg/W type to allow for opperation at up to 30A RMS, depending on the ambient temperature)

Terminal Lugs are 1/4" type (and will hopefully be supplied with all PCB's)

Operational Specifications

These will depend quite heavily on the type of diodes being used and the size (length) of heatsinks the devices are mounted on.

However, with the sujested BYW99W-200 diodes and 50mm long SK104 heatsinks, the design should be able to supply a maximum 30A RMS at an ambient temp of 20 degrees centigrde.

Also, the suggested values of 100nF and 100 Ohms should only be taken as a guide, or starting point for the correct values used in the snubbing network. The perfered values will vary with the opperating point of the rectifier and the devices being used, so some experimentation may be required to get the optimum performance from them. (It is also possible to use the board without teh resistor being present by placing a wire link in to conect up the capacitor, or if you prefer, you may omit both the capacitors and resistors)
