Dale Herman (Harvardian) and Craig Beiferman (
DipChip??) are developing a remote volume contol kit. We are hoping to use a group purchase idea to lower the cost of this kit.

We are going to take a profit on this group buy. We are incurring fairly large costs in developing this kit, and realize that we may need to provide significant support to builders of this kit.
We have decided to offer two versions of the kit (depending on interest level)
Please look over the two versions and give us an indication of interest.
The micro-control board will be identical for each version. The board handles the LCD interface, IR interface, switches, and controls the relays boards via an I2C interface. A programmed PIC chips will be provided with the kit. The software will contain a bootloader so that code can be upgraded via a serial connection to a PC.
Please see the schematics at
https://www.dipchipelec.com/apox.htm
The remote will allow direct selection of inputs via keys 1-8. We will be providing a LCD backlight and contrast control.
APOX-1 - Based on the Pass Labs P1.7. Eight resistors are switched between series or shunt duty. This volume control does NOT provide constant impedence. We will have up to eight differential (or single ended) inputs.
On board space for PCB mounted XLR connectors or hard wired. HT Bypass mode supported.
This version will cost approxiamately 225.00 (no enclosure or power supply)
APOX-2 - Series attenuator. This version uses 48 relays to tap off resistors or transformers. There are 24 relays used in the input section to switch between 8 inputs. The ground connection is also switched. If desired, the unselected inputs can be "grounded". Both differential and single ended systems. A bypass is also present.
See
https://www.dipchipelec.com/apox.htm for more details
This version costs more than we wanted, but 76 * 2.00= $152 for relays (we are hoping to lower the cost by buying lots of them).
We hope that the cost will be less than $400.00

Grataku APOX-2 I want 5000 of these bad boys. WHOOOO! JOKERS! I really want one (1). Can I keep my name "secret" too?
Cobra2 APOX-2 + boards for 8 x inputs(4xbal)+ chassi? (+APOX-1?)
scottnixon (Scott Nixon) APOX-1
Coulomb (Anthony) APOX-2
Apogee (Steve) APOX-2 Very nice job guys!!!!
rljones (Robert Jones) APOX-2 I'd like two.
rpell (R. Pell), APOX-2 + APOX-1 (or another APOX-2?)
Sheldon Stokes (stokessd) APOX-2 and a really beefy case... :) Looking like great work so far.
