TPA3255, TPA3251 with Post Filter Feedback(PFFB)

Dear diy folks
some of member may knew, years ago we put tpa3255/51 design into one high-integrated design and many people used them in their build, with some user are expecting higher-end design with higher performance, especially ti release a design note to achieve higher performance by adding extra feedback.
with this background, now we are happy to show you our new fully new design that many things looks exciting.
some of Key Features are:
• 18uV (TPA3255) Output Noise (AES17,A-weighted)
• 15uV (TPA3251) Output Noise (AES17,A-weighted)
BTL/PBTL configuration for best audio performance
• MELF resistor for audio path to get best performance and audio quality
• Fully compatibility one design for both BTL and PBTL (TPA3251 and TPA3255)
• 7G23B or VER2923,APG2923,HA3588 inductors compatible design

• Fully differential signal chain from input to output for lowest noise and distortion
• Extra optional input buffer for single-end input source

list down some questions for easier understanding:

  1. Heat sink is a flat plate and can hook it up to a large plate or housing.(similar to Hypex)
  2. stereo and mono version available, see P/N for detail description, for best performance we strongly suggest Mono version(main production version)
  3. the board without heatsink can ready to buy after 8/Oct(national days), with heatsink one plan end of Oct.
any feedback and suggestion can discuss here, let's enjoy Music.......

Hi 3eAudio. Thanks for the update. Great idea to start a new thread here, dedicated to your product.

Can you give some more information about the non-heat-spreader-plate vs heat-spreader-plate? Without the plate, is only the TPA32xx IC surface mating to whatever the end uses chooses for heak sinking? What is under the board? I have not seen a picture. Do you think that if the end user will mount the board to a heat sink, that the heat spreader plate is not necessary? The heat spreader plate is intended for mounting to a chassis panel? Can you give some guidance on that?

Hi @CharlieLaub
you are right. without spreader plate user can directly mount to their heatsink like aluminum rear plate, and just refer to below screw dimension, keep a spacing around 3~5mm between board to plate in general(the bottom side only SMD components).
hope this is clear.

The 3e Audio DSP is a DSP that has no simple real time programming interface like the mini DSP or Dayton Audio DSP's.

3e will never deliver such an easy to use DSP as this needs qualified manpower.
You can only program the 3e DSP with a special interface and a free Win64 only develober software called Sigma Studio from Analog Devices.
Also, 3e Audio does not help with pre programmed settings. The link goes no where. Chinese standard of "after sales no service."

Even getting the interface to work is quite complicated and has frustrated a lot of people, as you first have to reconfigure it. Have a look as FreeUSBi.

So the value of the 3e DSP is compareable to the 20$ Sure DSP, it only has simpler to use connectors.

While you will start tuning your speakers with a Dayton or minDSP after a few minutes, be happy if you get the interface to address the 3e ADAU1701 after half a day. Then you can try to understand Sigma Studio... good luck.
The ADAU is no consumer product, but a for OEM's that integrate it into their products. Like miniDSP or Dayton.

Plan for a lot of time and learning if you want to use it. The sonic results are the same.
