Good evening Joe,

When i met my wife i still had the big amplifier (833A; 4 chassis; >> 400 kgs) and a 50 cm turntable with 17" arm. At that time i was living in an appartment so the audioset was in the living room. Her request was that if we would move the audioset should be to another room.
A couple of years later we moved to a proper house and the audioset went upstairs. And quite logical as that 833A-amp was running extremely hot and with open copper connectors it was a recipe for disaster with my little son…..

So currently i'm "upstairs". I tried to have a proper tubeamp in the living room (the 6C45 amp pictured above) but was not small enough according to her....
Hmmmm.

Pictures included from the time that the big amp was still in and "only" the 50 cm turntable. Currently the turntable is serious larger but the 35TG amps are less then half the size of the former big amps.

Regards, Reinout

Good evening Reinout
Firstly : forgive me that I have misspelled your name !
And..., yes, I already had a feeling that such kind of setup would give some "problems" in relationships. I had that kind of experiences in the very long past. But anyway a great setup! That turntable in one of your last pictures (with that thick synthetic plate), did you purchase it or did you assemble it by yourself? I think I have seen something like it in the German audio magazine "LP" but cannot recall when.
I would be very curious how one of my favourite LP's : Brahms Piano Concerto No.1 in D Minor (Barenboim) will sound on your setup when I would have something like your setup in my room.
I am only designing headphone amps.

Good evening Joe,

my former turntable is also a DIY-affair. The platter itself was made by Scheu when they did a small production-run this size.(50 cm turntable + 17" tonearm (WTA-based) )
When my new turntable was finished i took that "DIY-Scheu" to the ETF and swapped it for interesting components (always looking for strange parts….).
Now i'm trying to sell/trade my trusty Gryphon XT-MC preamp that was perfectly functioning for the last 20 years. Still a great piece of audio gear though….I'll start a topic in the market/swap-zone.

I'm not familiar with that music; sorry.
Regards,
Reinout

The black boxes are standards from Conrad. The other boxes have been 24v power supplies that i purchased 15 years ago.

Just spent the last week reading this thread start to finish. Lot's of amazing inspiration here :D

I completed my first push-pull power amp back in 2017. 12AX7 >> 6V6 with salvaged Hammond organ iron. It's not much, but it's a start. This thread has certainly given me some goals to aspire to :D

More in the works, just hard to find the time to get them done :/
