One of my sons passed along this link:
http://tgimboej.org/Box_Tracking http://blog.wired.com/geekdad/2008/0...eat-inter.html I am willing to start something like this -- every week or so I sweep off my workbench and into a box go MOSFETs, resistors, BJT's, screws, connectors, etc. -- it takes more time to sort through the stuff, etc., etc. So I'd start a web-ring -- you get the box take what you want, put in some stuff you don't need and pass it along to the next DIYAUDIO'r. Flat Rate Box in the U.S. is $9.30 if you purchase the postage on-line. |

I saw this on hackaday.com this AM.
I'm going to start one off in Winnipeg, Canada. Any Canadians who want to get on the list please email me. We have some sort of eBay flat rate box that I will look into. Cheers

Neat idea, but it seems like the real winner will be the post office.
Basically everyone will be paying $10 to the post office for a grab bag of unknown components. And what are the rules if any? Say for instance I receive the box; can I empty the entire thing and then throw in a resistor or two and call it even?

I'm in. I need to start clearing out my surplus collection of heatsinks and power transformers.

![]() But seriously, I think I want to get in on this just to see what ends up in the box. I can guarantee what I put in the box will be worth at least 10x what I take out, if anything.
