Hi there,
I order recenlty the PCB´s from Suds. As I saw there are F3 building threads, but based on Peter Daniel´s version of the PCB´s. And as more of you got the PCB´s from Suds as well I thought it might be a good idea to star one just for this version of the clone. Until the PCB´s arriwe I would like to order the pars as well. But cant find a parts list. As Im not very experienced in electrotechnics I would need some advice on the power of the transformer and some of the parts. Has anyone finished this clone of the F3 yet? Cheers, Daniel PS: Note to admin can you please move the thread to the folder of http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/ I had two windows open and mismatched them, thanks Last edited by imagios; 4th October 2010 at 05:39 PM. Since F3 PCB is unusually long (300 mm) it's not easy to find appropriate HS. My start point was info from Mr. Pass in original F3 thraed that minimum thermal resistance (TR) should be 0,25 Cel/W. HS calculation (see below) confirmed above. In catalogue of my HS supplier I've found that his HR-400 HS with 150 mm length has exactly needed TR (see below). To be without any doubt on the safe side I've added 10% on length (from 150 to 165 mm). In original F3 thraed you can see different solutions. Some are very close to that criteria, some HS are significantly bigger. OK, i know & respect the statement (think it's from Mr. Pass) that there's no to big HS... On below photos you can compare data of my HS with Conrad MF35-151.5 (used from member ZUM911). Not very different... Also interesting is to see and compare the original Nelson Pass FirstWatt F3 HS (see below). It's about 63,5x127x356 mm but with less efficient air flow. My "gold reserve" is alu housing (i prefere skeleton building). Any comment or advise is appreciated!
