Are we talking direct board connection using headers or can there be some length of wire connecting the reg to the psu boards?

Has anyone tried a series reg feeding the K-Mult that can comment on benefits/drawbacks in terms of performance?

A short connection isn't necessary, but a long connection should be avoided. If you can attach it with headers, then why not?

Just complicates layout. Wires 6" or less is what I was thinking. I will do a direct comaprison to the Jung Super Reg.

If you have say 1500uF or more at the preamp then I would put the Kmultiplier as close as you can. Otherwise don't worry. You could also test this yourself so we know for sure. There has not yet been a lot of testing with the KM specifically, but the same rules should apply for umbilicals in general.

60mm is longer than my thumb.
That puts 200mm in as a long dimension.

0.5nH to 1nH per millimetre of trace/wire adds up very quickly to raised HF impedance.

OK. Thnak to both. Another question, Andrew. When you say HF impedance, are we talking 100K level or 20k level. I know there is a fascination with bandwidth levels far beyond our ability to hear. At what levels are we losing here.

I will redesign the preamp board to include the K-Multiplier on board. To keep it close, i would have to redesign it anyway.

I want to use your CFP for the LME49830, as you recommended me for filtering. As I need 55V the circuit from post #600 should fit this. Is this also the newest version of the circuit?
D1 and D2 have to be trippled... sorry for the question but does this mean parallel or in series?

I would use no more than 1200uF at the output, so the 1N400x are not near their surge current limit.

In your HV version, Changing the 220R resistor to 250R should only increase the time constant, therefore should be ok, correct.

If this reg has a low Zout, What is the benefit of adding capacitance to its output? What would I gain from adding a 220uF elco over a 10uF film? I am speaking of the HV version.
