looking at other interesting stuff on home site, appears to be an honest seller

Perhaps the most interesting item for us right now might be this one:

4 X RARE MATCHED 2SK170 2SK170V 2SJ74 2SJ74V FET | eBay

Set of matched 2SK170V/2SJ74V. The batch code is "8C" in both cases. Is anyone here familiar with Toshiba's batch codes and could tell us what they mean?

It might be possible that the fake SJ74s bearing the batch code "7C" are indeed mislabeled V grade, as previously suggested.

the double pair of the complementary jfets 2sk246bl/2sj103bl could be used as replacement for the pair of2sk170/2sj74 as an input buffer

I will like to alert everyone that Toshiba has announced EOL (discountinue) for ALL through hole JFET, all of them.
Only a few SMT JFET with low transconductance are left.

Same thing is happening to their audio specific MOSFETs.

It seems to me that linear audio is going the same direction as tubes.

Curious, this guy have 3 more like this:

200 each: RARE Toshiba 2SJ74BL and 2SK170BL TO-92 JFETS - eBay (item 250816623470 end time Jun-06-11 17:16:43 PDT)

If are real parts, someone wants to do a GB? (I want 50) :-D

Ask the seller for a close-up picture of 2SJ74BL. If you can't see traces of copper (reddish) where the legs join the body they are probably fake. All the fakes I got from China missed that little detail (and some were not TO92 as Magura has shown).
