udailey: How's that Lightspeed Attenuator working? Linear or audio taper pot control? Any rips, rattles, rust or warps ?

Have been working on a new circuit for it and building the chassis this morning. When daughter goes for her nap I will finish the breadboard part of it. Need to get a metal file to file out the power plug IEC hole.
Have used both pots and it really depends on the curve of your particular pair of LDRs. Mostly audio pot though. Linear can work with a small resistor or a trimmer across the gang on the pot that controls shunt so that it doesnt get loud fast which is usually the only annoyance.
My new one will be able to have selectable impedance and I can window the resistance of series or shunt LDRs to. Pretty fun, but have only had it working on protoboard so far. Listening to it probably this weekend.
Oh, I have been using a 1k audio pot to control the LDRs.
We could talk more but email is better than a major threadjack

Default Fugly

Hi Zen,

What means fugly? FeryUgly or something like that? Ha ha...

This afternoon I did the first serious listening sessions. My good old Aleph5 is the reference.
The Aleph 5 sounds a little bit softer but both amps have lots of space and depts.
The idling current of the BA2 is 1A per fet at 20V so the dissipation is 120W/channel so comparing both amps is really a hot issue at my small attic room.
The pre amp is cheffs UGS.

A question for the component specialists...

What is a good choice for drain resistor of the VAS (750R/3w)?
I ordered some wire wound precision resistors but I'm a little affraid of the induction. In fact I'm looking for something with a low temp coefficent/low noise but couldn't find anything.
Suggestions?

Thx
Johan

everyone around are commenting ( when someone posted something good ) how's nice , awesome blahblah
from several reasons I'm always posting Fugly! as fookin' ugly ...... take it as " that's really ugly , I don't wanna to have something like this , I can make something like that with one hand behind my back etc. "

shortly - that's just expression of my envy

(for critical places you can use MOX resistors - there 3 pcs 2K2/1W in parallel )

Default BA-2 Boards from cviller

cviller,

When you have the boards ready I'll take a set.

Your F5 board worked great!

Thanks,

Chuck

Hi Zen,

My 0.47R resistors are Mox series too but it's difficult to get the higher values. Above 47R is a problem here in the Netherlands.
I checked Farnell,RS, Digikey etc. but couldn't find what I want.
Any suggestions again?
