Ensemble Nun - "Salutare"
A recording of friends of mine, which was released one month ago.
They improvise on liturgical music of the Middle Ages, two singers, a sax and electrical guitar. It was recorded in a Monastery, using a 15000 $ Schoeps Microphone and some additional Mocrophones for the voices.
But most of the time, the setup of the musicians according to the Schoeps was so well balanced, that the did not need the additional microphones at all. No limiters or effects, like in the early days of digital recordings!
Even though I filmed, edited and mixed a promotional video for them (using a 100$ microphone) the year before, the music ist still fresh to me.

I just listen to the "Mother of all albums" (at least for us old goth oldies)
"Elizium" from "Fields Of The Nephilim"
People knowing this album know what i talk about.
I just spent a week to make this album sound good to my ears and heard every single song over and over again but didn´t get bored at all.
I love it!

"Sonny Side Up"- Sonny Rollins, Sonny Stitt, Dizzy Gillespie. My technician (an Asian immigrant young enough to be my daughter) walked by my office, stopped, and said, "That's fantastic! What do you call this kind of music? Do these people ever come here to play?"

I was editing a documentary about Rammstein and other groups from the Ex-GDR from`94 to `95. Still have a DAT from their second gig in Rostock. (Together with Sandow, a famous "art-punk" band)
I liked their rough live sound much more than what was produced in studio. But nobody danced in this gig! The audience just stood there, jaws dropped and did not know how handle them...

This is the music i listen to most of the time.
The second CD I bought in `84 was the "Köln Concert" (The very first one was Lou Reeds "Transfomer") and became addicted to Keith Jarretts recordings.
Today my favourites are:
"Still Live"
"Tribute"
"Changes" / "Changeless"
"Inside Out"
The "Standards" Sessions and some solo recordings, especially the Sun Bear Concerts
Some of them spin in my player regularely for nearly two decades...
