The words "the King is in the counting house" have been stuck inside my head since an acid trip in the late 60's. Thanks to Dillmeister, I now know what song they came from. I recognized the album cover from 40+ years ago.

11 - Where Have All The Flowers Gone - Pete Seeger

A very famous anti war song here in Germany ("Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind").

Very obscure album. I just checked ebay and their first self titled album has been released on CD but not this one.

Amazon lists it as a 2001 re-release on CD in the US and 2004 in Europe. They are going for STOOOOOPID money like $75 to $125 for a flippin CD. This is like White Bird by It's A Beautiful Day. However there is some NOS vinyl available for reasonable money. I think I will order one just to jog a few old memory cells.

"Underground" Miami radio used to play the title track and just about every other anti Vietnam war song until Crosby Stills and Nash did Ohio. "Tin soldiers and Nixon coming", then the liberal Miami Herald (newspaper) wrote about the "anti American Commie singers" on the front page and the anti war stuff vanished off the radio overnight. "Underground Radio" changed format shortly after that and is now a rap station today. There is NO rock music station on the radio in south Florida anymore, just lots of noise.

Where Have All The Flowers Gone - Pete Seeger.......A very famous anti war song here in Germany ("Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind").

The Peter Paul and Mary and the Kingston Trio cover both got plenty of radio airplay here back in the early 1960's. That song has also been covered by Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison and a few others but they weren't played a lot on the radio.

EDIT:

I found a 180 gram vinyl collectors edition of the Great American Eagle Tragedy for $15.95 so I ordered it.

My favourite version of 11 is by Marlene Dietrich.
