My current OB setup. Actively crossed 4way using JRiver DSP and exaSound e28 DAC.
Very nice! 😎 🙂
-perhaps a little too monolithic flat-black though? ..for some reason women rarely appreciate this. 🙄 😀
Thanks! 🙂 I will take a look, at Harsch XO. 🙂Very nice, Darkheart.
And efforts to dampen the room with bass traps, some screen in the middle, plus, the repurposed couch pillows are cute.
Since you are completely digital for your crossovers, do give a try to the Harsch XO. I think it would work very well in your case, better than just 48dBs all around.

Thanks! ScottG, call me lucky, I have this very rare case - she likes some kind of megalomaniac tendencies, including big speakers.😀Very nice! 😎 🙂

I tried Harsch last week, have been listening carefully to (all else being equal) differences between it and L-R 24 and 48 dB crossovers at 235 hz.
Harsch is better than both L-R’s IMO. Not a gigantic difference, but easily noticeable on familiar tracks. It sounds more realistic/detailed to my ears. I notice it on applause and piano, that usually indicates goodness.

FaitalPro 10FE200

Love the look!
Is that a felt sheet, surrounding the Neo 10?
MITsound, yes for neo10 I use a separate felt covered baffle made of cork sheets. If I remember correctly, there are 6 x 1.5mm sheets glued together. Neo10 is sandwiched between them and hanged in chains to lessen vibrations from main baffle. Neo3 is attached by rubber hair bands.

Yes, that XO is smoother and the frequency change, and also time aligned, so transients (like piano strokes and claps of applause, among others..) are clean and well defined.
If I were going passive, the cost of parts would spiral up quickly, but going active, it's very easy to use, and adjust delay according to drivers' placement on the baffle to our ears.
I'd LOVE to hear that woofer stack. That just looks like effortless bass for days. What's pushing them?

Hello, I have enough 15" drivers to try a stack like yours.
At 70 hertz, could you get by with one, or do you find it too directional?
Asking, because I prefer shallow slopes for crossovers.
OK, come to Latvia and I would gladly invite you for listening. 😀I'd LOVE to hear that woofer stack. That just looks like effortless bass for days. What's pushing them?
I use Crown Com-Tech 210 for them. I have tried a lot of amplifiers, but no one drives them so good like this old amp. Hypex ucd were close, but a little too thin sounding compared to Crown.
Not sure, if I understood you correctly. If you are asking, if there are directionality problems when using single driver per side vs four, then no, it's ok, but somehow psychologically I feel better to have woofer stack at height similar to main speakers. I tried different positioning, including horizontaly all 4 woofer boxes and horizontal stacking, but vertical sounded the best.Hello, I have enough 15" drivers to try a stack like yours.

If you were asking If only one stack of 4 woofers crossed at 70hz would be ok, then I would not recommend that or at least it should be at center between both main speakers. Two woofers per side (my previous configuration before getting four more woofers) would be better than all four stacked in one vertical line. I can clearly tell direction at 70hz even with 48db xovers. Btw., sometimes I like 100hz crossover better, but it sounds a bit cleaner at 70hz, but not easy to tell when not compared directly. I have used these Deltalites even up to 350hz when I crossed them to Tang Band W8-1772 in 90cm wide baffles.

Really? I figured even 120 hz could be monophonic and you wouldn’t hear any difference!

i myself locate bass quite often/easily, i hope i wouldn´t.
Room modes helps locating at least multi sub systems specialy lets say if front sub dips @40hz and side sub fills that gap you might hear that 40 coming from side.
40 aint that bad anymore but octave up same situation is so bad i puke
on stereo front with active carefully phase matched are often tricky to locate

are you guys serious can't locate sub bass? my dual-opposed 12" sealed subwoofer cut off 48Hz 4th order but i still can locate whether it's from right or left if i put on different corner position. that is why I'm building 2nd set to make it more blended
I wasn’t really referring to subs in corners. In my experience with 15” bass drivers located at the speakers, you cannot tell any difference on bass location, even as high as 120 hz, (wavelength close to 10 feet)
I say that because switching them between mono and stereo doesnt change what I hear.
I suspect most mixes have mono bass under about 120 hz anyway?

Could be that the drivers give themselfs away in form of distorsion or "fuffh" sounds - low, but still enough to hint from where the are positioned...

Here is a question though. I am considering cutting off my tangband fullrange somewhere about 2khz, as that frequency is below tangband first breakup, and compatible with many possibly tweeters.
But at 2 kHz, you can’t add a tweeter 1/4 wavelength away, so to avoid lobing, don’t you end up better of with very steep slopes?

I suppose that could be.
I did notice my no baffle bass stack seemed cleaner, and less audibly locatable than with a baffle. I guessed it was from baffle reflections.
Maybe it was due to driver kinetic energy being absorbed by the baffles, and released as sound.
My current bass baffle is only barely bigger than the two fifteens on it, to accomodate an additional centre channel in it. It seems cleaner in sound than a previous effort, my old Van Halens, which each had three fifteen inchers on them, on much larger baffles. They were probably humming along with the woofers, but their new owner hasn't complained.
