I just put in my vote and again on this round I'm puzzled by the scores I see.
I voted differently from the main stream but it's still early. I hope we can draw in more voters. X deserves a bigger audience for his troubles and time put in or else I guess we may have seen the last round.
I'm not taking a gamble on driver names, the measurements have been put up already though in a different order. The one I voted for seemed most neutral to me and had the ability to display voice separate from all instruments. Hope I made a good choice.

Yes you're right. That's what I feel with your chosen driver, when clip 2 just started and there was audience scream. Always got my attention. Another strength of the driver is that it is less fatiguing, probably low distortion driver.

But I tend to prefer the one with the strongest power and attack, which makes the piano sound so real...

I think you volunteered yourself. 🙂
That's a pricey paper cone driver never heard of MA5 no relation to MA A5 if one were to exist.

That's true ! Made in France... I know there are some lover of their drivers in France & Canada... France is Far from you, Canada not so much ! The brand has a long experience of FR, and that's one was designed for OB only and has very low QTS : funny !

Too pricy for me ! Could be more attracted by the 13 cm Satori ! at close size !

(I'm looking at your experiments with Jeshi about sloated mid-bass ; )

I just noticed that one more vote just came in and we are starting to see a trend. However more people need to vote in order for us to have more statistical significance. At 23 votes and assuming Poisson statistics, we need about 5 votes differential to exceed the random distribution.

So then you need at least 3 more votes for A assuming no votes for the other options, in order to show the bare minimum statistical significance by Poisson?
:spin:

Well, there is already a statistical significance between the driver with least votes and the two highest votes. That we can say at present with the votes already cast that it is above random coincidence.

I would like the clearest blue has one more vote !

Maybe i can help 🙂 had half an hour into headphones today and clearest blue plus G will have a local race here :c_flag: tomorrow to see which is my real preference among those two. At my system into headphones clearest blue was most delicate and audiophile but G seems closest to reference track.

Jay, the clearest blue as a second position I wanted to say ! Because I voted for a red car for the first place !

I have to say I rated my second choice very fastly, so the second place could have been the other red car (the one which are second also in the poll ! )

But what said my ears rapidly listening the second and third clip ? : second is the clearest blue 🙄 !

Now I'm more confused. I think I will just pass. Even your red car is no better than a TC9. :bulb: But the Tang Band (notice the downward response with built in baffle step compensation) is good for two or three way... (or FR with notch at 20k?). I think the strong "impact" that I heard was related with the built in BSC and the fatigue was related with the 20k peak :spin:

The experience is a little biased as The reccording loop had (add ?) a climbing curve (sibilance) and I listen to the clips on aluminium drivers ! (But heard any sibilance or climbing curve in the ref clips !). It seemed to me th choice I did is the only precise one with piano and cymballs ! Some may have a better dynamic maybe ?! But not a better micro dynamic imho ! And what are we waiting for with 2" or 3" size ? 🙂 ! But if you read my txt : I have some doubts on the clip 3 to chose the best one... but according to me, only the clip 2 can give a real way to judge a driver ! clip 1 is amplified music and rock : very hard to judge a driver and even a speaker with it : ask a lot of listenings with rock!) and clip 3 ref seems to show a reccording which has a certain light (or was it the voice of the female singer ?).

Am I the only one to hear a great difference between the ref clip and the reccorded clips (with nearly all the drivers but the ones lacking of resolution : here very few !) ?

Is it the room or the analog to digital stuff which adds its color to the mid-high ? Fixable with an EQ and AB test with good headphones ????

@ Jay : I assume you voted for the second red car 😉 or you simply like more casual listening than me ? It's possible as the listening has also to see with self biased tastes ! I have to say I have anything against distorsion and color if I find the sound is more enjoyable ! I just listen real instruments to have clearer reference sometimes !
