crossover dunce
If I were to use two identical FR units (per side) and put an inductor on one, that one would be 90 degrees out of phase from the other..is this right?

Not for the whole range, rather changes across some point I believe.

The 0.5 driver will roll thru 90 degrees as it crosses over. Below that it will be in phase

Thanks Dave, I'm not sure what this does to the response (2x chr 70s)- I guess that the 2nd driver x/o shd be set quite low (chr70 has an amount of built in baffle step compensation).
The other route was to have some kind of reflector on one driver (instead of x/o).

I recently saw a suggestion to cover the woofer in felt. Like a thick grill. I thought that was pretty good thinking. They didn't say if they've done it and it worked. But I thought it likely would.

Felt? not sure how that works
will experiment with both an x/o and the reflector to see what sounds better- started building the 'buck' for the mold; still a month away from finishing the build tho

Pointing the two drivers in different directions would work better I'd imagine.

I've stuck with the shape I came up with for the cabinet, with 2 drivers facing forward, so will stubbornly see it through
