"once you're past 30, the direction your body is heading becomes more obvious"

That is too much pessimistic...ok if it is later by +20 years.

From my observations (not counting the ear problems) the direction became obvoius at around 50, and the knee in the curve began at about 55. I am still doing my best to fight the inevitable decline though.

No, really......I made these cables.....they can cure all sorts of ear problems...just send $1995......but wait there's more......

Sorry, just had to say it.

Go to some Yoga teacher.
They had Yoga classes in our workplace gym a few years ago. I went for a while, but had trouble with most of the routines. My body isn't the type suited for many of the positions, I'm too bulky. Sadly many of the specialty classes have been discontinued since all of the layoffs have cut the enrolment. There isn't enough people left to hold the classes.

Great thread! I occasionally suffer from this phenomenon, too.

This is spot on for me. Inside the car with radio and road noise, or extended headphone listening, or bad PA systems, or my kids being really loud, especially in the highly reverberant tile-and-tub bathroom. It is really uncomfortable. There seems to be a threshold of SPL over time, and I can sense when it is about to go past the threshold by a "tighening" feeling in my ears.

I've discovered that it is more likely to happen if I have excess pressure in my ears/sinuses due to allergy or virus. Antihistamines (I have lots of allergies to different pollens and molds so have to take allergy meds most of the year) and decongestants help.

For me it is certainly SPL related, as extended loud sound will make it happen as well as sudden really loud sound.

Someone has to have a technical, physiological term for this!

Happy safe listening!

U cannot go for the Yoga poses after 30. Google pranayam and select the easiest of them u can. These are mostly breathing ways with easy postures.

Or the simplest u can do is breathe out heavily for 3 to 5 times twice a day, on empty stomach or one hour after any food.

I am not trying to teach anything here. Would have been best if u could purchase Baba Ramdev's yoga video cd.
