I'll check out what voltages are needed again, and you never know.... I do have a few little txs I ebayed kicking around.
If I'm going to use a standalone transformer toy box then I might aswell put about 4 in to make it look more audiophile. I see no reason why they should be nice units when they're not close to the audio parts, do you?
My main concern is that bits are separated and over-rated.
In short, in a little while, I *may* be able to make it spare.

Just looking at the service manual for the '43, '53 and '63 models.
the only non-mechanical difference is the tx.
The interesting thing is the winding arrangement.
0 - 3.4v for filament
8.3 - 0 - 8.3 for +-10v and 5v
0 - 14.7
0 - 14.7 2 separate windings for +- 15v
0 - 12.7 for vftd
In all other tx versions, vftd is obtained from an overwind
Power consumption is given as 13w for the '63.

It's true, to mount a toroid in a 63/67 you need a custom metal bracket,
which also serves the purpose to lift the trannie above the fuses FH11/FH12.
This bracket can be made for pennies, no problem at all...
I found a german supplier who offers a 50VA toroid with 79mm diameter and 37mm height.
This should work ok, I think...

That would fit perfectly.
With 50VA to spare, maybe I would like an extra 250V and 6,3V winding on it, to power my planned output tubestage! How 'bout that?
If I have time tomorrow, I will measure some voltages and currents in my CD63 and 67, under stop and play conditions. That should shed some light on the required windings.

Why not remove the fuses. I've never used them and had no problems. Or just fit them to the bottom of the board with insulation on the base to avoid shorts. This would allow more room and negate the need for a bracket. You could then drill a fixing hole directly into the PCB.
You could also shortened the right hand tray runner to give you more room. I did this once when I was considering adding an extra transformers for the analogue supply; 18-0-18, which are easily available.
I have also taken the power switch out. Again more room.

CD63 and 67 voltage measurements
After playing around with the two PCB's this afternoon, here are some voltage and current measurement for a CD63 and CD67 player.
Aside from some small differences, the results are about the same.
I also calculated the required power. It seems a 30VA transformer will be more than enough to provide this, and still leave a lot of room for extra windings and regulation. It will save some weight and cost, and will be easier to mount. What do you guys think?
