My Rega planet 2000 has not been working for quite some time and recently I changed the pick-up to the sony kss 213c. I have also changed the 4 units of 1n4003 to 1n4004 as mentioned in post 5 of Rega Planet "power-out".
The problem remains and this is the problem: 1) The player does spin the cd when a cd is put into the tray and the lid closed. The front panel instruction reads "no disc' when I push the play button. I have sent it out for repair before this and the repairman said there was nothing wrong with the motor but he wouldn't figured out what was wrong. Does anyone know of this problem? Thanks |

Hi
thanks for reply. The transport is connect to the board via a ribbon cable and I think it is securely connected. What other possibility that may cause the motor not to spin? Thanks |

check the lid switch assembly . i think its some kind of magnetic switch. irrc, it will have 3 wires coming from it. also did you remove the shorting wire/blob of solder on the replacement laser?

Yes, I did removed the blob of protection solder from the pick-up laser. What would be wrong from the lid switch? Yes, it is a '3 wire switch' with a 'A-41E' inscription on the 'magnectic' piece. But does it does seems to work.
Thanks |

I believe the voltage is not reaching the transport. But I do not know which components are supplying voltage to the transport. Anyone knows or can advise?
