are there any experiences with this board and its seller?

That is a great price on the 3118 with volume control as a bonus, I think folks in 3116 thread would also be interested.
in checkout it says free shipping is only to China, they will add unspecified for international
that's bad!
i can chose free shipping at first.
later in the process it becomes something like 23$ shipping.
is the tpa3118 superior to the 3116 with 8ohm-speakers?

I think the main difference is that 3116 has higher output power than 3118. Some of the guys on the 3116 thread like 3118 too. The shop that build this also has a 3116 on sale - that 3116 looks well built too.
Regards,
They look to be sold out.

I fI remember correctly, I do not think the 3123 can pump out 50 W, not even on 4 ohm speakers. I bought a 3123 kit from Sure (Part express sells the same thing) and it was very easy to built. It actually sounds quite good. It was after listening to the 3123 that I decided to get the 3116. My personal opinion, apart from higher power, I think the 3116 is a little better in the mid and the low frequencies. Human voice is fuller and the base is tighter. But then I am comparing two different boards with different components, not just the chips.

Regards,
yes, but datasheet says something like
3116: 50W into 4Ohm
3118: 30W into 8Ohm
that's why i thought i could get more out of tpa3118 for my 8-ohmers.

Both have the same potential output power when playing music. The TPA3118 might get a tad bit warmer if pressed beyond 21V supply voltage and below 4 ohm load but nothing that would be substantial, and certainly nowhere near the thermal limits.
i'll stick with the 3116 i already have.
...although some of the newer boards are sexy...
as soon as i'm in the mood to build a new speaker i'll try to use three instead of two.
8-ohmers with 40W max input.
three of them paralled to a 3116 pbtl board should do the job.

Datasheet for both chips is same document, so no large differences I think. 3116 number is at 21v and 3118 is at 24V.
Maximum heat the chips can get rid off might be only or main difference or there could be some kind off limiter??? xrk has both I think?
If the chips are used with an output filter then there would be a best match with typical 4 or 8 ohm speaker.

Do the 22uH inductors with presumably 680nF ceramics match typical 8ohm speakers best??? Cutoff frequency seems a bit on low side, especially if a peak in output is created like Saturnus was saying in the other tread (and like the graphs in linked article show), think he said with higher switching frequency of these new chips Fc could better be chosen around 45.000hz??

Both the 3116 and 3118 are very similar sounding with the 3116 able to handle more power as the power pad is heat sinked to a fin rather than relying on conduction to the PCB copper ground plan via solder vias. I think the 3118 has more flexible modulation frequency adjustments (?) - they are not simply identical chips with one being flipped. They both sound about the same, although I cannot comment on a commercial build of the 3118 as mine was made using dead bug point-to-point on foam core substrate. If you can get the above board for circa $10 with reasonable shipping that is a very good price. Although, my personal opinion is that going with a Sure 3110 from Parts Express for $10 will guarantee you get delivery and a nice board with just the addition of bigger power supply rail caps. The Sure TPA3110D2 is an awesome 31xx-class amp for only $10 (heck, that is about the cost of a couple of fluffy fufu coffees). If you use a 19v supply with the Sure 3110 you can probably get it to drive close to 20 watts with 4 ohm speakers. Spec sheet for 3110 here: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/slos528d/slos528d.pdf
Here is the 3110 plot of THD for 18 volts drive into 8 ohms. Usually lower impedance speakers equals lower distortion. Even with 18 volts supply and 8 ohms speakers, the THD is low when operating below 20 watts. The Sure TPA3110D2 board really should be called a 20 watt class amp rather than 8 watts (probably assuming a 12 volt supply).
Edit: I just checked shipping for Taobao on the 3118 amp board to the USA - $0 for EMS. The board is now $9.01 - a total steal/deal! I might get one or two to play with. What are people's experience buying from Taobao?

You are not buying from Taobao (seller) directly and shipping is not free???? So guess they will add shipping separately???

So there could be other agents offering this pcb for USA?
My mobile screen is a bit small (or my eyes old jeje) but is the Vout coming from tpa3118? If so, somewhere in datasheet I believe TI advises not to...

i hope to get an answer to my almost philosophical question in this thread.
which is the best solution out of ti´s tpa-family to run one single 8ohm speaker that has a max input of 40w?
atm i use a tpa3116 in pbtl, but think that might be throwing pearls before swine.
i know that there is a tpa3106 chip that would match my needs quite good.
but i´m looking for a board that only needs a few mods.

I didn't know there was a TPA3118 thread, till now. It was published here http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/class-d/237086-tpa3116d2-amp-273.html#post3893662 and was quickly forgotten.
I have been lurking around this thread for quite some time. I was uncertain whether to pick a TPA3116 Blue YJ (dannz designed) board, a Chengzi board or the inexpensive TPA3110 Sure board. Finally I took a risky move and choose a less known TPA3118 board which it is only available through TaoBao.
It has arrived and now its driving a pair of Philips speakers rated at 12 Ohm 40W RMS each one. It is running from a 12V SLA right now and the sound is great!
AlsoTao is one of the less clumsy TaoBao agent services I know. I paid just 9.75 USD and got it delivered by airmail to Spain. What do you think about it?
Potentiometer with on/off switch position
Blue led light
3.5mm jack
By default it comes in Stereo mode
Dimensions are 5 x 5 cm and less than 2 cm height , I still have to find a suitable case.

Hello!
I've been struggling for the last months with TPA3118D2 trying to make it work as an audio amplifier, both in mono-mode and in stereo-mode for an assignment at university. I've been following the instructions shown in the data-sheet provided by TI, but it seems that i can't get it to work. Is there any schematic of the amplifier shown in this thread that could be consulted?
I'm not an expert in electronics, so i'm finding it really difficult to make it work properly and can't find where the problem might be.
Thank you

Sanwu Blue PBTL postage stamp amp
This thread has been dormant for sometime but a recent version of the TPA3118D2 in 60w PBTL has been developed in a miniature format 36mm X 45mm - the size of a postage stamp. Board layout is extremely tight and good. Components are of high quality and construction is top notch. Prices range from $7 to $9 shipping included. The "Sanwu Blue PBTL" is an excellent amp. I have tested it and it is one of the better Class D amps I have even in stock form. We all know the 3118D2 holds the key for excellent sound as evidenced by the Gmarsh Wiener and the SMSL 36A Pro. Now it has just gotten tiny and cheap but still excellent sounding.

More info starts here in the 3116 thread but I would like to bring the discussions back to the 3118 thread proper.

Mounted with silicone RTV to a cpu heat sink:
Stress test with dummy 5ohm load shows it's a bonafide 60w amp, 5 minutes smoked the resistor but amp was only very warm to touch if mounted on heatsink:
My tests show that it is in Master mode with 400kHz carrier frequency.
Sound is powerful, dynamic, clear and transparent.
Gain appears to be set at a rather high 36dB.
Almost silent turn on "click" not thump. No turn off thump.
Excellent amp and excellent value. Extremely easy to install and use with solder thru wire holes that can be populated with terminal blocks if you desire.
Here is the completed 4 channel amp capable of 240watts total output cardboard Xmas chocolate box. My "Xmas Amp".
