Testing a Low MC could isolate the problem .
Maybe 1.6mV is OK , 2mV is too much ?

Even a high output cart does not always put out full voltage.

If playing low level passages, even a high output cart would output low voltages, so the "possible" clipping would only happen at large vinyl modulations.

In my opinion a HO MC works better on a low impedance MC input underneath 300 OHM. I would try something between 100 and 300 OHM across the input.

2mV at the input of the Paradise gives somewhat more then 2V at the output.
The only thing that goes down is overload margin. Say there is a music peak cut at plus 20dB ( x 10 ). The paradise will put out 20V but that is at the edge of what it can handle.
This will only happen on a few extreme records, say from RR or Telarc.
I whould say a cart with 2mV at 5cm-sec is the maximum i would use with the Paradise.

If you have a fast true RMS meter you could put it behind the Paradise and measure with a
very dynamic record what actually happens. You can also put a scope there.
Overloading the Paradise is unlikely but what will your power amp do with 20V P-P input ?
You really need an attenuator behind the Paradise in those cases.

Just thought I would share a short progress report. The boards are complete. I tested one of the power supplies and observed oscillations at 3 MHz. The heat sink got fairly hot. Will order and add the four caps next. I am glad an easy fix has been found.

Many thanks Alfred. I would like to support the other requests regarding your signature - if you could keep links to the most recent guides in your signature that would make it a lot easier to find. Or may be it could be updated in the first post of this thread.

I'll add my thanks too......this continual up-dating is excellent and much appreciated. I simply have a Paradise folder and as each new up-date appears I download and file the .pdf ....easy. I then put the superseded version in the trash can. Simple.
