I have owned a PHILIPS FT930 TUNER for a long time. I was thinking in changing it for another actual TUNER, but perhaps the PHILIPS could be better than the actual ones. FT930 have local/distant sensibility selection and WIDE/NARROW slectivity selection. Also has a incomplete RDS support, but this is not important
Service manual is this: http://www.freeservicemanuals.info/s...ps/70ft930.pdf I only want to know if tjis tuner is basic medium, high-end etc. I think this tuner is very good ¿is right? I was thinking in a HARMAN KARDON HK980 or DENON TU1510 ¿are these TUNERS really BETTER than my PHILIPS? Last edited by tiomiguel; 4th October 2011 at 10:52 PM. |

If you want a high quality concerning the perception of high quality sound reproduction, you need a stereo tuner, where its IF amplifier don't use ceramic filters from murata as the FT930 like this: http://www.reichelt.de/?ACTION=13;PI...00;ARTID=17485 and this The FM Ceramic Filter Page instead ceramic filter you need a tuner, where its IF amplifier section only use bandfilter (phase linear character) with inductors. The Revox Tuner A76 and the Tuner from Klein+Hummel "FM2002" (FM-2002) are examples - go to REVOX A76 http://h2.abload.de/img/kenwoodmodel600taus818ezwt.jpg Tuner-Papst Reinhardt Wieschhoff gestorben: STEREO | Zeitschrift für HiFi, High End & Musik friendsofaudio • Tipps • Vintage HiFi • Tuner Klein + Hummel FM 2002 http://www.ebay.it/itm/Klein-Hummel-...-/250836441918 http://www.vintage-tuner.com/tuner3/...fm-2002-01.jpg In the attachement more pics. If you search for a low cost tuner, use only such with variable capacitors for the fm tuning and such produced before approximately 1973 - then you have in most cases IF amp variants without ceramic filters. Might want to check out the Tuner Information Center here: Tuner Information Center - Vintage Stereo Tuners and the associated yahoo listserv/message board. Lots of real expertise in the group and TIC has lots of useful information as well. The Klein-Hummel is reputedly a very nice tuner.
I have a modified McIntosh MR-71 and a Kenwood KT-8005, I particularly like the 8005 despite its use of oddball ceramic filters..
