Simon:
PM me with your address and I'll send a few resistors for you to try on your fixture. I'll be happy to put anything you want through my equipment. Fortunately resistors are small. -Demian

It is important to understand that Corning has made MANY precision resistors over the decades. The Corning Resistors that we first found that sounded pretty good, were GREY
in color. In the early '80's Corning switched to GREEN and Blue. Both new models are a compromise over the GREY. This is when we switched over to Roderstein in making Vendetta Research products and still use them, today, when possible. |

I found a few GREY from about 1980 to 1983, but the value is way wrong 150K.

About 25 years ago, I compared Corning Grey resistors with Corning Green and Blue resistors. I had the help and advice of a promising colleague, Scott Wurcer, in doing so, because he showed me how to make a adaptor for my Quan-Tech Noise Analyzer so that it could measure EXCESS noise. Green and Blue resistors were distinctly inferior with 10V DC applied to them, compared to the Corning Grey. This is but one difference, but at least it was measurable.

Tried a dual 10K 10 turn wirewound pot today. Works very good as a load for MC cartridges. No partition noise that I could hear, but then I am 68 years old.

Invite my son. He is 16 and still hears to 20kHz.
He is not a big party animal so exposure to high volume was limitted. |
