I think ZhouFang is a great guy, but is the real ZhouFang out there?

I received an unusual request from ZhouFang the other day after not hearing from him for weeks. I'd asked about buying Toshiba 2SK3497/2SJ618. The PM I got back was asking me to front money for buying jewelry for his wedding and getting Paypal'ed back. He suggested sending the jewelry to his shipping forwarder.

If ZhouFang and I were old, best friends, I'd do such a thing. Having never met or spoken to him, I would not take such a risk. The problem with his suggestion is, if I followed his instructions I would be subject to a credit card reversal by "ZhouFang" through Paypal and I would have NO recourse. In effect, I'd be out the money ($3700 was suggested). To explain, someone can reverse a credit card charge via Paypal and if there's no record of a shipped item (there wouldn't be if I used his agent), Paypal sides with the credit card holder (as does the credit card company).

Not knowing if this might be a legit request, I called the store in NYC "ZhouFang" wanted to buy from (I happen to live down the street). They said they'd accept a wire transfer and let me send the item to "ZhouFang". This was OK with me, I took no risk. "ZhouFang" would wire money to the store, I would pick up the item and ship it. I sent back my suggestion to "ZhouFang". I was thanked and he said he'd call the store (why a legit person wouldn't have done this, I cannot fathom). I then got an invoice for the 20 pairs of Toshiba 2SK3497/2SJ618 I'd been asking about for weeks. The invoice was unusual, ZhouFang had never invoiced me before.

I'll conclude: If the fellow I'm PMing is the real ZhouFang, my offer stands, I'll pick up his item (which he must pay for directly) and ship it to him. However, it strikes me "ZhouFang" may not be the fellow we've all been dealing with for months, his account may be compromised.

ZhouFang, if you're out there, let us know you're OK.

Beware unusual requests which you may receive.

Hi everyone,

I might missed PMing the shipment notice for the last shipment.
The last shipment was done just an hour before I make my way to Airport, and I couldn't recall if I make the notice, bad memory.

The reason I preferred the online store oppose to deal with the real store is due to sales tax saving. NYCOne give me a great help by giving his offer. I believe in a few weeks time you will know that I'm still Zhou Fang.

It is always not an easy task to prove that you are the real you.

I'll be back to Singapore from my oversea work later this year (planned for Aug), service quality and response time will resume then.

I had a detailed PM with ZhouFang, I believe he's the man he represents.

My offer to help him with his request stands - I'm happy to do anything I can to help with logistics and shipping - short of risking cash.

dunno for other ones , but Zhou Fang , with which I had several trades and which is posting here , is certainly genuine one , and trustworthy

(but I would have doubts in sender's identity , if Zhou send me info that I just won a lottery )

ZM & ticknpop,
Thanks for your kind words!

In our PM, NYCOne questioned why I did not as the store to ship it off state to save on sales tax. Actually I had asked but was refused, the sales person insist on in-store pickup.
Since NYCOne said it, there is no harm trying again. So I called another store in CA. Bravo! They does tax free cross state shipping!

Thank you again NYCOne, you just helped me to save some cash.

I was too used to online purchase, the idea of calling up a bricks and mortar store and do phone order never cross my mind.

And to all dear members that are caring about my safety/identify/present, I'll like to say thank you, I'm fine.

Zhoufang,

Could you kindly give us an update for the status of the 50 pair 2SK3497/2SJ618 for the F5X regulator GB, ordered and paid by MarkLai and shipped unsuccessfully (by insured mail at 6USD extra) to AndrewT ?

According to Andrew's information, the FETs are on their way back to Singapore.

How would you like us to proceed ?
Claim non-delivery and money back via Paypal, and then order again ?

Many thanks and best regards,
Patrick
