Zanden Patent

Hi Fedde & dhaen,
Dhaen are you able to read and translate the Zanden Patent?
It can be found here:

http://l2.espacenet.com/dips/viewer?PN=JP2000349579&CY=gb&LG=en&DB=EPD

If you click on the patent number you get to the original Patent PDF-file.
All text is in Japanese characters! Thanks in advance!
Thanks go to Thorsten for the espacenetlink and patentnumber!

Elso,
Page 1/13 in Japanese:
http://l2.espacenet.com/espacenet/bnsviewer?CY=gb&LG=en&DB=EPD&PN=JP2000349579&ID=JP2000349579A++J+
is the summary and is essentially the same as appears in English on page:
http://l2.espacenet.com/dips/viewer?PN=JP2000349579&CY=gb&LG=en&DB=EPD
The drawing shows the filter block diagram.
Filters 12,13,14,15 are band pass filters.
Filter 31 is a low pass filter.
The text on pages 2~6 has been scanned-in so is in graphical form rather than text. This means "looking up" the old fashioned way, so will take some time - it's heavy going stuff.
I might start on the graphs and diagrams. By presenting those first, it gives me more idea what it's about, and you a preview.

You might also ask Tiroth for some help if I'm too slow:ashamed:

From what I make of it the 1kHz squarewave must look horrible too. But I may be completely wrong. How on earth can this sound good???
This is the way it looks. That 5x R-L-C series in parallel only filter has somewhat larger overshoot, but rings a bit less and notches are a bit deeper.

Elso,

Of course. I also have a problem to accept this. Look closer and you’ll see it rings at all those frequencies (44.1kHz, 88.2kHz etc… yes, lowest frequency is 44.1kHz). But I have the great respect for the people who made such thing. Also, some people consider it the best CD player ever…

Hi Guido, what can it be besides a Crystal chip ? There is not much choice left, is there ? Maybe "Kuei Yang Wang" knows ?!?!?

Hi JP

If it is the Crystal, do they attempt to improve the jitter of the recovered clock ? It might make an even better DAC if they do so.....

I am still surprised that 99% of the industry is blindly following semiconductor manufacturer standard applications......

all the best
