Maybe this one is even a closer match? Looks like it will work in a ported box.

I've been veering towards this group of drivers as possible candidates:
Tang Band W4-1337SD 4" Titanium Driver 264-848 $74
Specifications: • Power handling: 25 watts RMS/50 watts max • VCdia: 1" • Znom: 8 ohms • Re: 6.8 ohms • Frequency range: 70-20,000 Hz • Fs: 70 Hz • SPL: 87 dB 1W/1m • Vas: 0.17 cu. ft. • Qms: 1.51 • Qes: 0.49 • Qts: 0.37 • Xmax: 3 mm • Dimensions: Overall diameter: 4-15/16", Cutout diameter: 3-3/4", Depth: 2-7/8".
It's titanium, but the published measurement shows no breakup modes in the mids... the "recommended" enclosure / port is very close to my existing box. ("This functions best in a 0.25 cubic foot enclosure with a 2" diameter port that is 6" long. That would yield an F3 of 70 Hz")
....their bamboo cousins:
Tang Band W4-1320SIF 4" Bamboo Full Range Speaker 264-914 $38
Specifications: Power handling: 25 watts RMS/50 watts max *VCdia: 1" *Impedance: 8 ohms *Re: 6.3 ohms *Frequency range: 75-20,000 Hz *Fs: 75 Hz *SPL: 88 dB 1W/1m *Vas: 0.18 cu. ft. *Qms: 2.52 *Qes: 0.42 *Qts: 0.36 *Xmax: 3 mm *Dimensions: Overall diameter: 4-15/16", Cutout diameter: 3-3/4", Depth: 3-1/4".
Tang Band W4-1320SJ 4" Bamboo Cone Driver 264-847 $66
Specifications: • Power handling: 25 watts RMS/50 watts max • VCdia: 1" • Impedance: 8 ohms • Re: 6.8 ohms • Frequency range: 75-20,000 Hz*• Fs: 75 Hz • SPL: 89 dB 1W/1m • Vas: 0.21 cu. ft. • Qms: 1.50 • Qes: 0.48 • Qts: 0.37 • Xmax: 3 mm • Dimensions: Overall diameter: 4-15/16", Cutout diameter: 3-3/4", Depth: 2-5/8".
One ferrite, one neodymium...
But the curious one is this, it seems really good on paper:
Tang Band W4-930SF 4" Paper Cone Full Range: Madisound Speaker Store $23
My goals are: narrow dispersion, reasonable bass, good articulation and presence.
My questions are : Titanium? Phase plugs? Bamboo?
