Why no moving iron cartridges?

The Soundsmith cartridges look interesting, though I'll probablt wait to hear how my new Denon DL-160 sounds first. I haven't even pulled that cartridge out of the box yet.

I think some Sound Smith carts require their preamp. Check to be sure.

Their strain gauge cartridge requires a special preamp. Their moving iron cartridges don't.

I could not find any dealer having Nagaoka or Grado MI on stock.
I assume an MI should give the same output as a MM. Need to replace an aged Audio Technica MM system.

I bet you haven't done a google search yet. There's at least a dozen of German
retailers on the internet. Check Phonophono, Nadelspezialist, William Thakker
and some others more. They also carry replacement styli for AT MM cartridges.

Cartridge Man Music Maker is MI I believe as it is a totally rebuilt Grado. Supposed to be very good.
