Dan, the synth is very cool - thanks! It's interesting to play with different fundamentals and the different waveforms. On sine waves, anything above H3 sounds like a distinctly different tone to me. But that's frequency dependent. Go down an octave or 2 from 440 and H3 isn't distinct as a separate tone.

The violin is good to tinker with. Even as little H10 as there is, change it and it very much changes the timbre of the tone.

in a production chain all the factors mechanical, the tolerances, the materials, generate some difference, littles or big.
more complicate and delicates are the structure and greater will have differences.
These is common characteristics any hi-fi components.
more precise is your measurement equipment and will you are capable to see the differences.
