no idea but my ears are young and I want them to stay that way .
Should really get the sound level meter out and measure . I sit about 2m away from the speakers when I'm listening , remember that I mentioned the speakers are my workshop speakers ? I don't need much power at all

sure did , got a bit confused at first but after viewing carefully it all makes sense . Not much of a taper and I believe there are some nasty corners which need rounding off . I had the baffles cut then the rest of the sheet of MDF cut into 70mm strips . I just used a mitre saw for the cutting and cutting the angles , which was a breeze !
One point to note : if building these stuff the line up about 30cm from the exit port , then add to taste by stuffing the port gradually

So, in building them, you made the tl version, with the wood solid where there are dashed lines, right? How did you stuff the top part of the box? Did you use 10mm felt or foam?

I picked up a table saw and miter saw for christmas, so I was planning on a similar construction method. I also bought a biscuit/plate joiner that should simplify it a bit.

Do you have any pictures of your speakers?

Hello to all tube specialists,

whet would you recommend to drive a pair of Jordan JX92S (88db) based transmission lines ( similar to Carolina Audio or Konus ones, with some mods that doesn't in my mind affect their relation to the amplifier ).

regards,

François

Hi to all!
This is my first post to the forum - the question of a suitable amplifier to drive the wonderful Jordan JX92S unit got my attention. I have been playing with these units for a while now in 10l sealed and 15l ported enclosures with LCR eq circuits. I have heard them driven with various amplifiers Naim, Audion, Mission, Leak Stereo 60 and Stereo 20 etc.
All these give good but very different results.
Now to let the cat out of the bag - The very best amplifier I have found giving superb control and separation across the bandwidth is to be found using a humble Philips MCM 8 or MCM 11 Mini-System! Shock...Horror! Yes the 75W Class "D" amplifier in these £140 units is absolutely stunning - use a decent CD source through the aux port and good quality speaker cable - the results are amazing AND this will not break the bank and you get a passible 2 way ribbon tweetered speaker system thrown in.
What more could you want ;-)
Also the Philips makes a wonderful job of driving a large pair of Radford 4 way T/L units with KEF B139 bass units

I have a friend with Jordan JX92s and we tried a few amps out. Leak Stereo 20, for example, was powerful enough at about 10 watts but a bit extra would not hurt. Less than 10 watts was definitely overloading. I built him an amp as a project and it has worked extremely well, also looks very nice with all octal valves with silver tops and a gold plated chassis. I used 7A4 Dc into 7AF7, then parallel push-pull 7C5 in triode. In octal langiage that's 6J5GT into 6SN7 into 6V6GT. This has all the delicacy and detail you could wish for and enough power. I can supply all the parts as a kit, which would also be cheaper than WAD. Contact me if you want more details. Andy Evans aeatartsandmedia~at~aol~dot~com
