Hi Nathaniel,
I was about to reply with all the SPEAKERS I listen to . . .
Before I got into vinyl, my taste was pretty narrow: 60's - 90's rock, a little classical, and local bands that put CD's out. . . .
When I got INTO vinyl, my music world opened up, since at $1.00 or less / record, you can give anythign a try and it won't kill ya.
Start with my current favorite : 40's / 50's / 60's jazz; my favorite way 'besides' the $1 record deal,is take a well known jazz artist(Miles, Coltrane), check out some of his recordings, and see who he (or she) recorded WITH.
This is how I got turned onto Milt Jackson, among others . . .
If you want some good modern music, check out BEn Harper, JAck Johnson, Joh Mayer . . .really great songwriters, and musicians to boot.
