Even with Lateral mosfets which do have neg tempco, source resistors are required to mitigate the %difference in Gm of the devices especially for class AB. Gm varies quite a bit for any mosfet for low drain currents compared to high drain currents. Also if multiple devices are in parallel source resistors are required to insure even current sharing.
