Amoeba is indeed the place for records. Check out the basement of this shop too, lots of lots of used records and vintage audio hardware:

Amoeba is nice but they are ******. The owner is a dick and their prices are too high. Their staff is a bunch of stylebot posers who know nothing about music.
Check out Recycle Records also on Haight but further down near Masonic. Also check out Jack's Records on Page in the lower Haight... I think the x-street is Scott. There are scores of records stores in the lower haight. Just park your car near Divisidero and walk down the street.
