Here's another less unusual one:
Again another Celestion driver and a precursor to the Volt Radial Chassis. Funny how Volt claimed they innovated that when in reality they just copied and badged it up as something else.

I've seen it done before with the Volt Radial series:

So it didn't really strike me as unusual. The other I hadn't seen, so its all relative I guess.
Interesting how it's constructed. It appears that the motor structure is attached by its own pole piece through a concentric set of arms over the face of the cone.
Yes, the basket is moved to the front of the cone and also acts as a large heatsink since its coupled to the pole piece.
