Nice, I didn't know they still existed. I have an old unit from the 'Department of the Army". Probably indestructible.

Last time I looked, the price of the Amplitrex was not cheap. An alternative that requires some building skills is http://www.roehrentest.de/RoeTest10.html . That is on my "pending" list of things to do!

Then there is the cheap and cheerful, but extremely capable https://www.dos4ever.com/uTracer3/uTracer3_pag0.html

And the long-defunct and somewhat legendary Sofia http://www.jacmusic.com/Tube-testers/Sofia/Sofia-Index.htm . At one stage I approached Audiomatica with a view to building at least one (for me) and building a few to sell. But they said that for the remaining bits and a technology package it would be 30 grand. I lost interest real quick.

There is an excellent review of a whole bunch of valve/tube testers here http://www.jacmusic.com/Tube-testers/ including the Sofia.
