The source is a computer motherboard. I don't feel like hacking it up.
By using the Optical, I can have two inputs to the DAC. Of course I can only use one at a time.
I have searched every possible combination of keywords for the query. I can find distributers that can sell me 5,000 units, or I can find some small shops in Europe and Asia that can sell me a few. Neither is a viable option.

2 minutes in google got it...
i searched for "toslink receiver" and found a link where a dude modified something to add a toslink jack. he gave a bill of materials, one of the items was a TORX179 from digikey. they dont stock it, but they call it a "RECEIVER MODULE FIBER OPTIC". search for that and you get a few things. mainly, the TORX177(F,T) and TORX147(F,T). they stock those. see if that works.

All I need to do is figure out what to spend the other $23.70 on.
?? do they have a minimum order limit? if so, i have an order i need to place with them. i could tack on one or two of those and throw them in the mail.
