We keep a cast iron bathtub outside for dog watering. Also we have a dog door. That means this little pooch can drag in ice chunks to leave in assorted places. Last week she pulled out the most perfect 1/2 inch inch sheet and got it inside without breaking it.

-7C last night which is mild for many of you but pretty chilly for south of the thames. I've got to drive to visit parents tonight. this will be where I will miss the ultragrips I ran in winter on my last car. We don't get snow but the grip on cold damp roads is mad. Wife oddly is glad I don't have them for the same reason...

ok weather in england is variable but recently has been daft. Driving to my parents friday night it hit -10C according to the car thermometer (not calibrated actual temperature may have been different). cold enough for frost to still be on the bonnet after a 3 hour drive, which hasn't happened to be since I last drove in canada. this evening its +13. Silly.

About 30cm of fluffy white overnight, and of course someone up the hill decided to test drive their “all season tyred” little coupe. Didn’t make it around the corner, and has blocked our driveway since 6:00AM this morning. Also kinda amazing how tenacious that cornice on the south side of the house turned out to be.
Glad we didn’t clear the entire driveway, as it looks to be starting up again just in time for happy hour viewing.

You‘ll have to refresh my memory on that, Jeff. o_OHopefully the owner gets that thing started or towed before someone even more cerebrally challenged emulates what bill linked in his video - and certainly before Thursday morning, ‘cause we’ve got a wine bottling appointment scheduled that day.

can’t imagine the stress First Responders must go through on the first day of these weather events - yeah, I know they’re trained for it, but to add this layer of willful stupidity to the mix should be a punishable offence

You could call Saanich, but I'm not sure that will accomplish anything. If they're not going to plow the road, then it's unlikely a tow truck will show up.

Already contacted the Saanich Police non emergency number with the plate number - in case it’s a “vehicle of interest”. This is neither a humorous situation or minor inconvenience - we have two vehicles that can’t make it out of our driveway, and no way to identify & contact the owner for removal.

Shoveling the driveway earlier this morning -7C plus 30-40km gusts from the north made for an invigorating 45minutes.
The whirling downdrafts on the south facing deck make for a drift of at least 50cm deep.
