You remind me of something that in retrospect is bizzare. When we were 15 or so the Jesuits had a canon law class carefully defining the states of high, tight, and drunk a good 6 years before we were legal.

Back then, legal drinking age here was 16.
During carnaval days, bars were filled with fully loaded 12-year olds.

Now the legal age is 18 and to buy alcohol, one has to show an ID, up to age 25.
My g/f's 15-year old son borrows his older brother's ID, and sells beer to his schoolfriends for a buck profit a pop.

(enrolled for commercial business school as of september first, that kid is going places)

It seems like the world woke up a bit late about the size of the disaster but now there is help coming in increasing numbers according to media. I donated some via swedish red cross fwiw. They and some other organizations from here in on sight.
