-6C forecast for this part of Scotland!

Our famed Tweed run of Autumn Atlantic Salmon failed - in almost total - to run this year...and the river is in flood, so there is absolutely no chance of a fish before the end of tomorrow when the season closes until February!

I had the great fortune to spend a week last year in Scotland over Christmas. Truly one of the most magical places I've ever had the opportunity to see, and I came across some of the most lovely people I've had the opportunity to meet. I hope to make it back sooner than later.

I hope you get a salmon even on the off chance of "no chance".

I feel for you Brian. Our mighty Fraser river run of sockeye predicted to be 4.8 million turned out to be 628,000 and compounding that, halfway along their journey they came upon a 5 meter wall of rock from a landslide a little earlier. It was quite a scramble to try and get them past that. They tried a few methods but would not allow the water vacuum where they suck them up and fire them over the rocks upstream so the return was further decimated. They did manage to get some of that out of the way in time but still...

Well yea. One can poor $$ into this but I find that kind of boring, especially in classic dragracing. Well the hoards of skilled honda engineers were clever and reused what worked. Hence a stock CB900 swing fits straight into the bearings of a CB750 SOHC. For connection rods one can pick and choose between CB750, M7 bolts and 15 mm wristpin, CB900 M8 bolts and 15 mm wristpin and CB1100 M8 bolts and 17 mm wristpin. For performance M8 and 17 mm is ofc preferable. Then we can look at pistons and a late bike as VF750 has pistons fitting right into the game. Just new sleeves and bore the cylinders to 70 mm and good to go with a nice 12:1 comp. Not many know this and buy Carillos etc for many $$$ and special stuff. No need actually, and the stock gear is good stuff.

William Zanzinger killed poor Hattie Carroll
With a cane that he twirled around his diamond ring finger
At a Baltimore hotel society gathering
And the cops were called in and his weapon took from him
As they rode him in custody down to the station
And booked William Zanzinger for first-degree murder
But you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears
Take the rag away from your face
Now ain't the time for your tears
William Zanzinger, who at twenty-four years
Owns a tobacco farm of six hundred acres
With rich wealthy parents who provide and protect him
And high office relations in the politics of Maryland
Reacted to his deed with a shrug of his shoulders
And swear words and sneering, and his tongue it was snarling
In a matter of minutes, on bail was out walking
But you who philosophize disgrace and criticize fears
Take the rag away from your face
Now ain't the time for your tears
Hattie Carroll was a maid in the kitchen
She was fifty-one years old and gave birth to ten children
Who carried the dishes and took out the garbage
And never sat once at the head of the table
And didn't even talk to the people at the table
Who just cleaned up all the food from the table
And emptied the ashtrays on a whole other level
Got killed by a blow, lay slain by a cane
That sailed through the air and came down through the room
Doomed and determined to destroy all the gentle
And she never done nothing to William Zanzinger
And you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears
Take the rag away from your face
Now ain't the time for your tears
In the courtroom of honor, the judge pounded his gavel
To show that all's equal and that the courts are on the level
And that the strings in the books ain't pulled and persuaded
And that even the nobles get properly handled
Once that the cops have chased after and caught 'em
And that the ladder of law has no top and no bottom
Stared at the person who killed for no reason
Who just happened to be feelin' that way without warnin'
And he spoke through his cloak, most deep and distinguished
And handed out strongly, for penalty and repentance
William Zanzinger with a six-month sentence
Oh, but you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears
Bury the rag deep in your face
For now's the time for your tears
