Mini Progress
While this thread isn't a build log I thought folks might be interested in a few things I am trying with my mini build:
One thing I have struggled with is finding a reasonable way to mount electronics so they are serviceable. I decided to try recessing 8 magnets into a center brace.
I will mount the PCBs to steel bolts and then let the magnets hold them in place. If this fails I will just use double sided tape.
Here it is in place:
A lesson learned from my NS6 Mini build is to use the tools I have and make the joints interlocking. It isn't necessary but it sure makes assembly alignment easier.
Here is my front / back plate. They are the same except the back does not have holes fr the mini jack and volume. In the corners you can see where I spotted the mounting holes. There are two more on the other side.
And placed on the front baffle. I will paint the wood behind the cooling slot black. Hopefully it won't be too obvious that the cooling hole is very small in comparison to the slot width.
I still have a lot of work to do but it is progressing.

The more pictures, the better. Very cool way of mounting the PCB's. Isn't it easier to get your BT output from the RCA?What RCA?
They were removed for space reasons. What I might do is solder directly to the PCB to eliminate the often unreliable 3.5mm connector

My question is:
i want to build a boominator mini or the normal version, but i don't know which speakers i should use, which amp, a separate filter, or how to make a the box perfect so i will have the best sound with the least battery usage.
I was thinking about using the Maxamp amp: Home - Maxamp 12V Versterker
And this speaker and filter set: Kistradio en Kratradio Specialist - Complete Sets - Boominator - Boominator Mini Speaker en Filter set
Do you think this is good for a boominator? I already have a accu, a adapter to charge the accu and the rest.

You can extend it, but it's just pure overkill. Rule of thumb: for every amp hour (Ah) you can play 2,3 hours on full volume or 10 hours on medium.

I've been following this thread for a couple of weeks, read it through and re-read. I think I've understood most of it so I've taken the plunge, bought a maxamp20, ordered speakers and started planning the cabinet but already run into my first problem.
I have a raspberry pi and an iqaudio dac running squeezeplug as my input but when I power both the amp and the pi from the same battery I get a lot of interference. It sounds like you can hear the pi running through the speakers, after a bit of reading I think may be ground loop interference. Any advice on how to eliminate this issue? At the moment it works fine running from separate batteries but I'd prefer bit to have separate power sources.

Most systems suffer from this issue, a good ground will fix this in most cases. I also used a DAC(volumio) for the Raspberry Pi, and this also resulted in a much cleaner signal.
Try to use a star grounding scheme, with thick enough wires.
Like in this picture:
Its a bit hard to see but if you look closely you can see that each grounding wire goes to the same terminal block, so every device gets its ground from the exact same point/level without being able to interfere with each other.
How are you powering the Raspberry Pi by the way?

As a quick and dirty experiment I just took the ground from the pi and the amp to a terminal block and onto the battery, which didn't change the interference.
The raspberry pi power supply is a rc helicopter 5v step down which I've just crimped to a micro usb lead don't know if this would have an effect?

What are the 2 gizmos at the top of the case pointed toward the power button. Quick connects for the drivers?

I don't know of anyone selling a pre-cut kit (often called a flat pack) but it has been discussed a number of times. This is a DIY project not an Assemble It Yourself. I certainly don"t want to discourage you. To the contrary you will find it a rewarding build and you will certainly learn a lot.
Hey guys, it's me, again... hahahah
I have a little question: at the moment i have my own made boombox with a car stereo built in it, but if i connect my laptop with it it goes much louder than with my iphone.
I heard you could fix this really easy if you have a amplifier but can i also mod my car stereo somehow so that if i connect it with my phone that it will go louder, like with my laptop?
