Didn't know those details......If I played by those rules then, I think the song count would be very low. Last time I started an "album" apparently it was a common & easy theme.......this time it appears people don't seem to know or can't be bothered to research...

It is a fairly obscure theme so in this case I am minded to agree with Galu.

As for research: I don't do any. If I don't have a suitable tune I tend to sit out a theme.

Not quite.... he already had a group of session musicians from the start as he was producing songs for other people..., although on some songs he did as you say to produce an effect.

The "Brass" was a mixed & ever changing group of session musicians..it wasn't until later that the "Brass" became a fix set of musicians..

Quotes from the liner notes of the reissues:-
"Before recording Whipped Cream & Other Delights, the Tijuana Brass was less of an actual band and more of a floating roster of some of L.A.s top studio players. But all this changed when Whipped Cream started getting comfortable in the charts and the demand for an extensive concert tour became too strong." -

From the man himself:-"The Tijana Brass started without a group", Alpert affirms. "It was a studio recording. The Loney Bull and the second album were studio recordings. When I got to the third album and we did Mexican Shuffle from that point on the Brass started catching some momentum. And then when I recorded Whipped Cream & Other Delights, thats when I put the group together. There was never an actual group in those early days."

Remember the album Loney Bull wasn't out until 1962...& yet he was writing/arranging songs for other musicians from 1957...
